Whitecloud's Expo Trailer Build

So as some of you know Lobster13 and I have been working on a set of expo style camping trailers. We started them at roughly the same time and looking back might not have been such a good idea simply for lack of space in the garage to work. Well I guess it is finally time to post up a build thread for them. It all started with a need for more camping space for the family and me not wanting to set up the Truck Bed Tent everytime we went anywhere.

What it sits like currently minus the shocks.....


Figure that this will turn into more of a BS and photo thread but for mow onto the pics..........I'll do my best to keep them in order.

Everything good starts with and idea and evolves from there........







Starting on the 2nd frame.....




Parts starting to show up....







Wheels back from powdercoat. Using a set of old steel wheels from an old Jeep project that we sent to the coater....


Some tires mounted...


Axles built to truck width.....


Leaf Springs sourced from a couple of Ford Rangers from U-Pull It...


Max Coupler Hitch


Gas grill going on a set of drawer slides....


Picked up some sheet for the bottom and sides...


Both frames back upright....

Water tank location...Don't mind the fitting locations, the manufacturer fubared them...


6ft long lid Hinge that will be bolted to the lid and welded to the tub...



Wiring template laid out to be put in after the spray on liner....


Reverse lights...


Rear adjustable supports...



Skining the 2nd one and tailgate...

Pretty straight so far...


Temporary lid holders...



Struts are in.......These needed to be changed from 150lb to 200 lb ones once the RTT was mounted...


Time for some primer and some color.....

Not half bad looking weld for just a flux core welder........

thats bad ass man! how long do you think it took you to make? and how much in materials did you spend? I love the idea of the grill and water tank

 

About 3-4 months. But that was Lobster and I really only working on it 1-2 days a week........Total cost was just north of 4K. We were taking about making a few more..

 

they are really freaking sweet. is that 4 a piece or total for the two?

With the Max Coupler hitch it can go anywhere that the truck can........

Camping a couple weeks ago at Great Sand Dunes NP.
