My 33's rub the shit out of my wheel wells. I did the pinch weld and beat it back some so that's good but the top is pretty much getting beat back by the tires. My 33's are skinny enough to not touch the flairs so I haven't had to mess with them yet, other than some hacking at the back and bottom to prevent rubbing while turning.

Matt, i'll send you a pm later today. but yes, still no tools :(

    question for erbody.....

who thinks these 35s are going to rub the hell out of my UCA with stock wheels and spidertrax spacers?

I don't need the truck wheelable for the next few weeks, but i do need it streetable. so a little rub on the cab mount or fenders when i hit potholes or speedbumps is fine for the time being, but a constant rub between the sidewall and UCA is a nono.....

really? i had a couple little scuffs near the backside of the wheel wells, but for comparison, the suffs/dents left by my UCA hitting the inner fender was far worse than what the tire did.

stock wheels are 5.5 backspacing, so with 1.25 spacers, i'm at 4.25 backspacing. so in theory, good to go. gues it'll just depend on what kind of sidewall curvature i get from the narrower wheels.

10-4, thanks man. i think when i go in tomorrow i'm goint ot have them mount the spare first, and test fit it. if i have rubbing at right height, with the wheels straight, i'll hold off on the other 4 until i can get new wheels or bigger spacers. fingers crossed for that not being the case though.

i texted john and asked, since he's on 35s with stock wheels, but i think he went right to the 2'' bora spacers, and never even tried them with the spidertrax. haven't heard back yet though, so we'll see.

Yeah. It has started to rip the plastic lining up in there out. If it keeps it up the end of my intake will be exposed... I need a snorkel. Haha

As for the 35's from what PSU said it sounds like you will be alright. Skinnier wheel should pull the side wall in a little making the tire a little skinnier as well. Might have some rubbing at lower psi though. I will rub my frame at full lock but only when at lower PSI.

yeah, my inner plastics dissappeared as soon as the snorkel went on. I removed the rear liners long ago and couldn't be happier. so much easier to clean after wheeling since there's nothing to trap mud and dirt anymore.

I'm hoping that you're right, and the narrower wheel will help my case.

won't make a difference at lower PSI though for the UCA. Luckily tires only go flat at the bottom :D

I could see the tire briefely tapping the UCA at lower psi, but only on higher speed stuff, like when you get jarred ina rut on a high speed turn. then a lower psi tire will "bend" to the outside of the turn from the force. a litle rub from that would be acceptable though.

but back to what's important.......when you getting a snorkel

Yeah. Higher speed stuff is when my tires hit my frame. Took me a while to figure that one out because on a lift I couldn't get the tire to touch the frame no matter how hard I tried.

At $400-$500 I'm having a hard time justifying that cost... especially since I have plans for fiberglass in the future. I need to find out if that new snorkel (its Airaid right?) Will fit onto glass with minor modifications or if another one will work better. At the moment I'd rather put that money into a 50T leaf pack or some custom alcans and shocks and hoops/bedcage to go with it.

yeah, all kinds of crazy things happan at speed. not only with the tire bend further in and out, but you'll get all kinds of bushing movement that you just can't simulate, short of a come-along from the lower arm to the frame. and on top of it all, you then have frame flex thrown into the mix as a little extra fuck you, straight from the tire clearance gods......

hear back from john. he's gonna take a look at his clearance between the sidewall and UCA. he's running the same wheels and UCAs as me, with 2'' spacers, and 315 treadwrights.

as the treadwrights generally run large compared to other tires in the same size (due to their construction), i figure that if he's got 0.5''-0.75'' clearance or more, i should be ok.

0.5'' and less will be bad news most likely.

hmm, tracking says my tires have been delivered already, a day early. gonna call up firestone and see if that's true, and if so, go have one test fir tonight if they have the time, and then the rest mounted if the test fit goes well.
