I hated the flag ball and joint mirrors on my taco because of people hitting them in parking lots, causing me to readjust them. So, I replaced them with the Street Scene mirrors, because they were solid and I didn't want to worry about people hitting them, anymore. But, now I want to get rid of my SS mirrors, mainly because they sit a little low and also, I want the fold away mirrors, but don't want to get the ball and joint mirrors. Does anyone know if the 2001 - 2004 mirrors will fit on the older Tacomas?

I've heard that the a.m. stuff is junk.

Go to a wrecking yard and get 'em. I looked into it a while back, and they wanted around $80 each. couldn't find them at a picknpull.

They do mount differently. 96-00 uses nuts on studs and 01-04 used bolts (or the other way around, not sure ). They will work. If the 01-04 mirror does not have studs, then be sure to get the bolts, as well. If they do have studs, then be sure to get the nuts.

IIRC, my mirrors have the studs on them. I considered junkyard for the OEM ones.

    Thanks

Not yet. Working on getting some shocks this week or next for my truck. But, priced out mirrors at the dealership. I can get both for about $240. I am hoping to do it soon, tho. According to the pics that they had, the mounting looks to be the same. I will update with pics once I get them on.

All the mirrors are the same design mounting wise. Even if there are studs vs bolts, the holes on the doors are the exact same.

    Id find some originals.

My Dad bought & installed some OEM power mirrors in my 99' for a Christmas present. The mirrors were out of 2002 Tacomas and then the power control on my armrest is (I believe) out of a Toyota Camry

DEFINITELY get OEM Tacoma mirrors as opposed to aftermarket

Yep, that's my understanding. I am definitely getting OEMs just debating if I want to get 'em new or used. With new ones, I don't have to worry about the glass shaking, anytime soon, like mine are now.

I am in the same boat, but just not sure if I want to deal with the wiring. Wondering if an aftermarket switch and wiring kit will work

This is the thread he started and some posts that helped him through it.

I have used ones off a 2002 Tacoma & I don't notice anything except the same view each time I get in my truck.... so nice!

Just wondering and it looks like they do, do your mirrors fold in?

Also, are your tweeters factory? I want to put components in my doors and i like how that is.

The mirrors do fold in. The tweeters are factory, however mine are empty so I don't know if Toyota actually had tweeters in there or just had the housings for looks..

Thanks for the thread, I'll look into it further once I get the chance.

Nice, I'll have to look into this, also when I do the components. If I decide to do the powered mirrors, I'll do them at the same time.
