I was wondering if there were no natural winching spots. It sounded like he was alone because in his post in Jerry's build thread he said that he eventually was pulled out by the camp owner or someone, but I know he has a winch, so what about winching to a tree or rock?

From the looks of the picture I saw yesterday there wasn't. The pic was of his winch line pull really far our and his truck at the bottom with someone holding the end of his line and nothing in sight to winch to.

where were you?! Seth said he texted you. It really wasn't that busy honestly. Seth put his leveling kit on the Titan and we did my headlights. Brian helped Ted tune his sound system and Justin messed with his subwoofer a little. It rained quite a bit too. We also grilled some burgers.

Ah I see. I was surprised I've been to Eagle Lakes near Fordyce and there were a lot of trees around, so I thought there would be lots of trees near there, too.
Either way, I'm glad all ended well!

I was facing Sterling Lake, so there was no where to winch to

I didn't see his response that you were doing it at his house until late in the day on monday. Kinda bummed as I wanted to watch the projector install.

It was easier than I expected honestly. Brian helped a lot and did the stuff I was afraid of like baking the headlights. The Morimoto D2S don't require cutting so that helped a ton. Plus I didn't paint my reflector bowls so that cut down on time. It's a good thing too that I didn't plan on it cause of the rain.

I may have, I live right in town. Were you parked near petco/starbucks/bank yesterday?

    My truck is fairly unmistakable.

Just had to give a plug to Ham Radio. I doubt I will ever go back to CB. I run an 18" antenna on my rig and regularly talk to people 100 miles away.

Left Friday PM for Tahoe in the new Tacoma (picked up Wednesday PM). 1/2 tank from Santa Rosa to Kings Beach, 1/4 tank driving around local, 1/8 tank from Kings Beach to Auburn. Filled up, and 1/4 tank from Auburn to Santa Rosa.

    24 MPG.

I'm pretty pleased, especially for what was basically the first full tank of a brand new truck.

Ham and vhf are the same thing, right?
I was talking with MrGrimm at a trail meet in SoCal last month and he was saying that he regularly talks with people in South Africa and Australia, depending on the repeaters, with his vhf setup.
Where did you mount your antenna? I've been considering getting a ham license I'm not sure where to mount the antenna. I haven't done too much looking into it, though.
