Good idea. Now, enlighten me on shocks lol. I'm getting fox's up front, what would be an appropriate rear length? I want to start figuring everything out.

10" rear shocks for a mild mid travel, 12" for an excellent mid travel. If you don't mind chopping up your bed for a rear cage go with 14's or 16's. I don't know for sure if a 10" will fit in the stock location. The 12" you will need hoops or the BAMF tower kit.

Should have probably posted something before I was up there, but didnt think about it. I spent the weekend in Bend visiting family and doing some bird hunting. Saw a few tacos while I was there, one 1st gen access cab hauling an older wakeboard boat. Also saw a white 2nd gen DCSB with what looked like a 6" lift. We took my dad's 05 silver DCSB 3" on 265s. Roofrack rails on both cab and shell. Got to see some of the Metolius River, sure is some pretty country up there. I need to get up there more often.

You can buy hoops, or I bet even Tyler can fab some up. I'm assuming that you want to run either 10's or 12's so you keep your bed together

I've seen how much people charge for the kits, $$ for a bent tube and some plates haha. I was shooting for 12. If I can only fit 10's all just ditch doing the shackles on the safe side.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Like Mitch suggested, Jerry sells a simple kit: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/ba...-b-m-f-2nd-gen-rear-shock-relocation-kit.html

Also, Chris (krisskross) just had some hoops fab'd up by Tyler (I think):

I've been (kind of) researching shackle-flips and extended shackles for a while.

Ruff-Stuff makes custom shackle hangars: http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/UNFLIP.html
Defined Engineering makes custom shackles and SUA kits: http://www.definedengineering.com/products.html

...and apparently the XJ shackles will fit our trucks if you do the flip (need to read more about it though):

Just depends on what you want. I borrowed Tallons Bestop this past week which then made my wife start talking about canopies. Debating about soft top versus traditional. If I go down the traditional route I am going to upgrade to Dakars or Expos. But I am sticking with my 2.5's that I have and just strap the rear. These things have enough travel to use almost all of the expos. Hence the strap idea

What are you trying to achieve by using a shackle flip? Lift or travel?

Got my Camburgs back on yesterday. Took it to Firestone to get an alignment today..was told they can't do an alignment because I don't have my sway bar on. Mitch, do you have your sway bar on still? Seems like it's always something :(

Negative. I took mine off a couple months ago. I honestly don't know if I had mine on when I took it in. Which Firestone did you go to?

Just travel and better articulation. I will also be removing the 1" blocks and throwing in d29xl leafs soon. The n182s have 10", but the dakars want to go another 2" beyond that. It is still a ways off until I do anything, but want to do it right.

I got an alignment soon after taking mine off, and they didn't say anything. I actually asked the guy if it affected camber, and he said it makes absolutely no difference :notsure:

The one in Tigard. Gave me a whole speech of why it's not safe and how it wears out tires and parts faster . Told them I've had it off since 2009 with no problem and no longer have the sway bar to put back on so they can do the alignment. They said they weren't even suppose to touch it from the get go since there's no sway bar and not sure how no one caught it before. What a headache trying to use my lifetime alignment

Where do you guys take it to? Only place I had good luck with is at Les Scwab before I decided to take the plunge on the lifetime alignment from Firestone. Like I said, Just re-installed my Camburgs, cranked the coilovers up a bit and want to make sure the alignment is good...

Good god, I wish. Wasted an hour walking around the shopping center with my daughter to come back and say "Oh we couldn't get it done because of etc etc" Guess I'll have to give Schwab a call and eat the $199 I spent on Firestone. Guess I can still use them for the lifetime wheel balance that I got with the alignment package.
