The anticipation is killing me

 

I know, I was just looking at my seats thinking "oh baby my cab is gonna look so damn nice"

 

i was just looking at mine thinking how dirty it is and that all the mud on the seats from last weekend wont happen next time

 

Oh yeah, there's definitely going to be a deep cleaning with my seats before I slap on the new Wet Okoles..........

 

Im not entirely sure how to clean these seats, any tricks that anyone knows of?

old toyotas i would pull the seats and gently pressure wash them with some carpet wash, the resolve carpet spot foam and a brush worked well on my 2008 with sr5 seats, but the sport seats have some fabric mesh type stuff i dont know.. Toyota says it is water resistant, and i have found it is but the center mesh reminds me of the special "designed by velcro" red/yellow MR2 seats from 00-02 and my ex wife drove the mr2, there was nothing i could do to save the seats after she was done with it.

 

I have used a microfiber towel and carbonated water with amazing results. A little splash on the towel, a little elbow grease on the seat (first with wet then with dry towel), some time to airdry and voila, clean seats

 

I'm not sure about 2nd Gen fabric, but with the 1st gen (1999 Tacoma bucket seats) I just use carpet cleaner in a spray bottle and gently scrub/blot the stains out. Again not sure about your specific situation...

 

Ah carbonized water... hmm yeah maybe club soda would be a good substitute for chemical cleaners

 

Yeah the fabric is more like a water resistant plastic/canvas-ish on the sides and the center is a suspended mesh similar to running shoes. I am sure there are better descriptions but im wingin it. The older toyota fabric is not the same. and the new fabric does repel stains etc to a point but it traps dirt and dust and doesnt look like scrubbing the center section would help a stain..

 

I am planning a little 'product review comparison' once I have these seat covers received and installed in the Tacoma. I have had these before, and was very happy with the fit, material, and durability of them on my 2005 DC.

I ordered a set of Smittybilt neoprene covers for a 2003 Jeep Wrangler I picked up a while ago. The seats in it are pretty much worn out, stained, and in the case of the back seat, eaten up by the sun (upholstery gone, foam missing, etc.) Anyway, I planned to just cover these up with the Smittybilt covers, but subsequently found a set of 2006 Wrangler seats, front and rear, on Craigslist. I am holding off putting on the covers until the newer seats are installed. Once those are on, and the WOs are in, I'd like to see the comparison, however different, between the WO, which normally run about $250 per row, vs. the Smittybilt neoprene, which cost $169 for both front and rear covers combined.

 

I'm most likely in.
