Hey guys, I own my 2013 Tacoma Baja Series for less than 3 months.

Today while i was driving to work, there was NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME. And then i hear a loud noise, and see that my windshield is chipped and cracked.

Pretty much right on the center of the windshield too.

So i called Toyota, they told me the Factory OEM Windshield costs $977 not including labor.

If i go with a after market, it will be $474.50 with tax and labor.

The guy didnt tell me what company they use. But $977 for the Factory Windshield seems to be too much for me atm. And on top of that, i have seen many tacoma owners have had their share of experience with the factory glass.

So I was wondering what company can i trust and go with for replacing a windshield.
I want a windshield to be at the OEM standard, if not EVEN STRONGER AND BETTER.

Call around. I got a windshield installed by a local company for around $260.00 and it seems like it takes a hit better than the factory Toyota windshield did.

Toyota has a warranty for the windshield. Did you get it by chance and forgot. I have had my windshield replaced once and cracks fixed twice under that warranty.

I'm sure there are DIFFERENCES between OEM and non OEM glass, but there are no perceptible differences between my new(aftermarket supplier) and old (OEM) glass.

Do you have any glass coverage with your auto insurance? If not, make sure when getting quotes that you will be paying out of pocket. The glass companies usually charge more to insurance companies.

I don't know where you are, but in Kentucky there is no deductible on safety equipment (this includes the windshield )

If you have comprehensive insurance you're covered.

Shouldn't make an impact on your premium unless you get new glass every year.

x2, I do not notice any differences between my factory and aftermarket windshields. I had Safelite install mine and insurance paid for it.

Well i just called the Finance dept for the Windshield Protection Package, they said they only offer that during the purchase of the vehicle, and it is too late to buy it now.

PS: I am making a trip to a local safelite, to see if it could be repaired.... so hopefully it can and everything will be good.

That will be the worst case scenario, and I still need to see if ,my insurance company will cover it.
It is a brand new truck still under finance.... So full coverage should cover everything......

But if it can be repaired, it will be better..... I would rather not pull the entire glass out

Another +1 for insurance. A local glass place here will waive your deductible if it's under $250. My windshield spidered the first day I had my taco. It was from a rock though...
If it has developed into an actual crack, they wont be able to fix it.

Just had mine replaced not to long ago safelite did it, price for mine was $265 I'm in Ohio, they had it done in bout an hour ... Don't really see the need to buy a $900 dront winshield, when the safelite aftermarket will do the same thing lol... Good luck..

local shop around here did it for 170 i'd call around and check and do your research because i called safelite when i had a chip and the cost was about the same as getting a new windshield.

I agree with a lot here. You don't indicate where you live, but Florida is one of the many states that actually REQUIRE your insurance company to replace your windshield if it is cracked or broken, at no cost to you, and they cannot increase your premiums either. I had 3 different vehicles that needed new windshields when I lived in Florida. Never cost me a dine and my rates didn't go up either. Check with your insurance company and state laws before you spend a DIME.
