Typical behavior. They know you won't have the resource to chase them so off they go. Cyclists need to be held to the same standard drivers are. Maybe with the exception that if there's no one at the intersection, go ahead and run it. But if they want to play the safety card (bill in assembly to require a 3' buffer when passing), then they need to start taking some responsibility for their own bad behavior.

Wonder if the guy had insurance and will be able to pay for the damage he did?

    Move back home!!

Nu uh!! Not typical. I don't ride like that.

the last 7 days was probly the worse days of my life, along with a huge tooth infection i had, i end up pulling about 8 muscles on my back during a back spasm while going to the bath room, was home alone and not being able to eat drink or go to the bathroom. finally gave in and went to the hospital, got some mortrin and painkillers. and shell out the money to get my to pulled. still not able to move much but i can pee by myself now.

You might not. The majority does. Gives no shit about following safe riding practices or traffic laws and then blows up on car drivers when the cyclist causes an accident.

I won't stop at a stop sign if there is clearly no one else there, and I mean CLEARLY. If I'm a little unsure I creep up on it but keep moving so I don't have to unclip. But I would most definetly not blame the car if I ran into them. on the other hand I see A LOT of drivers that don't even know there are bike lanes and other people on bikes on the roads. I have been ran off the road several times due to people not looking when they go to turn or merge over where a bike lane is in between a straight and a right turn lane. But then again a big majority of people riding bikes around here are also riding on the wrong side of the street with no helmet and probably on a cell phone. I wouldn't be giving a shit either if they ran into my truck that's them being stupid and you can't fix stupid.

Awfully broad brush to paint with. I don't ride like that, neither does my wife. When I am in my truck I treat cyclists with the same courtesy I do motorcyclists. I watch out for them regardless of how they are riding. All the close calls I have had were the fault of motorists not paying attention. Fortunately I have a strong sense of self preservation.

I don't feel that a majority doesn't care. We don't want to get hurt. We don't want to die. We are just hard to see.

I've been hit twice. Once while in the bike lane and a car pulled backwards out of their driveway. They yelled at me for being in the road IN THE BIKE LANE. Then they left. Bruised right thigh, tweaked right knee, sore left hand and elbow. Two blocks from the house. Walked home.

The second time a car pulled out of the parking lot of an apt complex and didn't look or slow down. She rolled out of the lot, hit me, I rolled across the hood. She kept going. I just lay there until I got the strength to roll off of the street into the gutter. After about 15 mins (with people driving by, going around my bike in the street, I was able to get my bike and coast down hill home. 3 Broken ribs, messed up shoulder, upper arm bruised and hurt hip/thigh.

Both times I was in the street, both times people pulled out without looking.
