This may be a little too basic, but I've always thought of AWD as a "city" label for cars and S/CUVs telling you the car can distribute power to all 4 wheels.

This is different than 4WD in that it's set as dummy proof. An AWD vehicle is inherently less capable because the system is intended to provide safety in slippery situations instead of real off road capability. Is this too basic when trying to explain to Joe Schmo off the street?

I don't know what's more interesting, that year-to-date the Avalanche continues to outsell the Ridgeline, despite the Avalanche being discontinued, or the fact that the Ridgeline outsells the Titan...

For you "Honda Haters" ... Going on about 2,000 miles and 3 weeks and I love this thing (Ridgeline) ... :D

The mileage is a little better on the road (than a 2012 DC/SB 4x4 TRD) .. and about the same in town.

The thing that I miss the most from the Taco is the ... "pillar grab handle" on driver's side. I screwed up my back in the military and that "grab handle" was great at times. Also miss the Entune, but am redoing audio in the Honda now.

Brakes on the Ridgeline feel soft but stop good .... outside of that I love this "odd ball thing". What I really wanted was a Subaru Pickup, but the old Brat is not made now and was too small anyway.

FWIW ... It Ridgeline tailgate says "4Wheel Drive" and not AWD. (It will never go off road) Love the tailgate, bed lights and deep storage back there.

Helping my BIL buy a new Tundra probably this month ... :)

PS ... Actually looking for an older Tacoma now to off road and not worry about scratching the paint ... Toyota will always be in my blood :)

My buddy has a ridgeline... he has had nothing but rust issues and it's a 2011 model... the doors are rusting... the running boards were replaced do to rust, he waxed it yesterday and found more rust on the doors... taking it back again...(they have re-painted one door and now the other coming up)..

    He says..."never again"...

    That's definitely Honda's fault.

... Hondas (in general) do have a rust problem ... .... but I have no salt in Atlanta ... :D

When I lived in Montreal ... my cars looked like h*ll after the first winter with all the salt there.

The fire trucks used in Quebec were "rust buckets" in a couple of years too and we had to warranty those. ...

And it didn't matter what rust proofing you used, they still rusted.

Been on both sides of this "rust coin" ... :)

My wife had had 4 Fits (and loved them due to Emory parking decks) before her Civic and loved those cars (you know those are "J-Cars) built in Japan with higher quality (you unofficially pay about 6% more for that).

PS .., Thanks for the info ... good advice ... I listen to you as you have some common sense brain horse power on this stuff ... :D

I would love a good deal on the seat covers. I really just want a drivers side but but Okles won't sell me just one. Grey 2012 dbl cab is what I have so they would work great!!!!

To the OP congrats on the purchase.Looked at them and for what they are they are a very versatile vehicle.I don't see anything wrong with the looks.Like the Honda Element, just doesn't appeal to everyone, doesn't make it a lesser vehicle.

You're comparing apples and oranges there my friend. Too bad you have to look at it "before" you get to enjoy the inside. And for what it's worth... I love Honda's. I've had at least 10 but man... Ridgeline...

Glad you're enjoying it and I hope it gives you years of service. Being a Honda, it most likely will.

... ^^^ ... If the Ridgeline was a "Three Legged Ugly Donkey" that served my needs/purposes now ...

Would you dare slander my faithful animal ... ... by saying ... "But Man, it's a 3 Legged Ugly Donkey" ... ... even though it makes me happy and does the job ... ... :D

PS ... I had the exact same thought process on the Ridgeline until I bought and used it ... it was NOT an easy decision to buy it ... ..

Anyway, with your vehicle track record, you'll be moving on to another vehicle in a couple months.

I'm probably the biggest Honda fan on this board. Ive owned more than 20 Honda's and I'm only 26. My username is Honda related. Ive owned built turbo Honda's, track s2000, Japanese imported RHD Integra Type R, and plan on owning an NSX. But.....I will never buy a ridgeline. Too each his own I guess.
