Well after posting and talking to the guys in the SAS thread, I'd have to disagree with you and say a Dana 44 won't be strong enough to run 37's on the mildest potholes.

If I'm doing this, I'm doing it right. I don't want to cut any corners.

I want something that can go out and play with all the JK's we have here. They do all the trails in Big Bear, Bronco Peak, some stuff at The Hammers, Rubicon, Moab, etc. Yes, I don't have much experience on those trails, but I'd like to have a rig that can handle it.

might follow this guys build and use the same axles. Found on ebay for around 800 bucks. But would probably have to rebuild everything.

 

My taco handles all those trails and has been on a few trails at the hammers as well. I would suggest in a older 1st gen taco to SAS. Won't hurt so much with the trail damage if you do plan on the hammers. 99% of my damaged sheet metal is from the hammers lol

 

Idk. I got a shit ton of lift out of the standards but I guess if he plans on carrying a lot of weight on top of having the plate bumper, id recomend it. The only way I was able to even out my ride hight front and rear was to either have a shit ton of Preload (which I used too) or go with spindles (what I have now).

 

I always thought the Expo pack was for the guys that load up the bed to capacity AND have a plate rear bumper and spare.

I just don't wanna lose my kidneys on the street since it's my daily driver and during the week I drive with an empty bed.

Although, the Falken Wildpeaks are heavy as hell and a 35" spare on the rear probably weighs a good amount. I wonder if I need to reinforce my tire swing out, since it's already starting to bounce on bumpy freeways.
