No. General rule, I don't lend out vehicles.

The way it works for me- I know they'd do it for me, but I would never ask. I'd do it for them, because they would never ask.

Tortured phrasing, yes, but the idea being the only people I'd ever lend a vehicle to are the people who would not ask to use it unless it was like, life-or-death or something. Not "hey bud I need a favor, got this hot date..."

It's not like we are a selfish circle of people. One time a few of us were killing time together, and a guy gets a text- his mom is in the hospital. He only had his bicycle with him. You never seen six different sets of car key proffered so fast.

You best think about it. How old is he? Does he have a job? Does he still lives at home? What if he wrecks it? Why can't he borrow his parents car? What if he runs over someone who do you think the lawyers would go after? Is the truck in your name or cosigned by your parents? They would be held accountable if anything happened and you don't want to do that to them! They would say no!

My brother had a brand new car when he was 17 and loaned it to a freind...his friend got drunk and ran it in a yard and into a tree. The friendship ended after that and my brother (parents) ended up paying the deductable, paid higher insurance rates, atop that he drove a wrecked car...fixed but was still considered a wrecked car. If I was you I would have to say no. If he's a true friend he'll understand and if not he never was.

BTW...any pics of his hot date?

Did the OP ever update us on what he decided? Admittedly, I don't feel like going back 6 pages to find out.

I have offered co-workers to take it to the store if they have nothing to eat and need food. they always say no because they either don't know how to drive manual or are too respectful.

if a friend needs a pickup for moving or whatever I am there, I will do the work and drive no problem, that's what friends are for.

if I am unavailable to drive, I have a few friends who could take it.

if a friend needs a truck for a date, he can go kick fuckin rocks. I would be offended at him asking.

    Nothing from the OP yet

I won't even let my best friend drive it around the yard, let alone with a feminine distraction down a public roadway. Other people will NEVER take care of it like I do and I don't want it broken, stolen, or lost like almost everything else I've ever lent. Ain't nobody having a hot date in my truck besides me.

OP's friend chose the motorcycle way of life. If she doesn't like that, she probably won't stick around him past the first lent-truck date anyways. If she doesn't mind, then he's in luck.

Plain and simple answer: NOBODY borrows my truck except my sister and my brother. They are the only two people who I know would drive it with respect.

I ended up in a job site for the last few weeks with bad service so couldn't check this thread, I ended up lending it to him. Flew home last weekend, he came to pick me up at the airport, truck shined and waxed, painted my nerf bars and rear bumper with the bedliner paint and wet sadness my headlights all of which I was planning to do when I got home. I debated for an hour or so and figured he'd do it for me so might as well.

I have never heard someone do that for someone who lent out their vehicle. I hardly ever hear people saying, "they filled my tank with gas". I guess some people are more grateful then others.

I would. It's just a truck. He wrecked it then he better make it right. I would say hell no if he asks to take my wife out.

The mystery date asks: Hey, can we borrow yer truck fer another date... I wanna drive this time.

BTW, it's good to see your friend respects your stuff, but he should get a vehicle for himself. A bike cannot be a DD.

For a date... How good of a friend is he and do you really trust him???

What needs to really happen is he needs to foward pictures of her to you, and pictures of the chicks hot friend who she will set you up with when you get back for letting them use the truck, you need to post the pictures up on here, and set up a yes/no poll!

I actually think I would loan my truck to a friend as long as they take care of it and fill it up with gas when they are done using it

Haha!! He did send me pics, and honestly she was very easy on the eyes but my girlfriend probably wouldn't be a big fan of her setting me up with her friends. Should've done it as a poll though now you mention it.
