I'm planning on derping my truck. Wheels definately, potentially badges - bumpers - grill.

I'm new to derping and have never done it before. I'm fine derping my wheels black or gunmetal and adding a metalizer. What is the best here?

    - A ton of coats of derp in the preferred color.
    - Add coats of metalizer until the desired level of metallic flake if you want a metallic look.
    - If not glossy enough at that time, continue with glossifier coats?

I was washing it today also and noticed I've got a lot of paint chips from gravel and what not towards the underbody. Many roads getting where I need to go are unpaved. I want to derp it to protect my truck from rust and more chips. You know, about 8" or 10" up from the bottom. I don't care if it matches my silver paint perfectly, but some sort of close silver would be nice. I'm guessing kind of like the above? Start with gunmetal and then use the silver metalizer. Once it's somewhat close in silver move to gloss if needed?

    http://www.lowes.com/pd_230731-61158-11221-6_0__?productId=3760715

Has anyone done something similar on their silver paint? I'm going to read a lot in the tread but any quick tips or a quick link to point me to how to quickly get up to speed would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by adding metalizer. The silver, anthracite and gold colors from dipyourcar.com already have metallic flakes in them, you don't need to do anything extra except put a gloss coat over it if you want. If so, get the clear glossifier derp as well.

Gunmetal is more like a blue/gray primer than gray. Anthracite is black/gray metallic. Best thing I can tell you is poke around dipyourcar and you'll get a better idea of what colors to expect.

It's just a slang/sarcastic way to say Plasti-dipping without typing that much. Derp.

How many coats did you spray on each rim? A bottle per rim?

I've read a bottle per rim has more durability. If anything, just peel it off and derp it again.. ;)

You can do that too. It depends, if you sprayed enough coats, then peeling wouldn't be an issue.

The purpose of derp is that it can come off. Tire installers aren't known for their careful treatment either. They have to usually get the cars in and out as soon as possible. I'm not too far from needing new tires so I'm waiting on it before I derp them. Friends of mine that want something more permanent have used truck bed liner spray instead. They used black though. LINE-X will spray pretty much anything you want though with a color.
