    i have a 1998 accord 4 cyl 5 speed daily driver, has 175k miles.
hasnt gave me like any issues until now.
symptoms are when it is cold, as in the car has been sitting for a few hours and the engine is cold, it feels like it is "surging"... i press gas pedel and nothing happens for a second or 2 then the engine jerks. the rpms dont move its almost as if its out of gas. also when trying to maintian a speed it will do the same thing. it doesnt make any odd noises when acting up. i first thought the clutch could be slipping but the rpms dont shoot up or bounce when the gas pedel is pressed.

after running for a few minutes/few miles it is normal

had a tune up 40k miles ago...got new spark plugs, wires, disp cap, air filter and new clutch

any and all suggestions are welcome....i ask this here because the honda accord forums suck

Fast Idle Valve. It's under your intake manifold. Take the cover off held on by two phillips screws and tighten the valve with a flat head screw driver. Don't over tighten it. As a matter of fact when it's tight loosen it 1/4 turn back. put the cover back and you're ready to go.

It stands for Intake air control valve. But it's more than likely the fast idle valve from your description.

    Ok thanks

Quick update, the issue is definitely related to cold starts, i let it warm up for a few minutes before taking off this morning and didnt have any issues
