or you can make a loop around the buena vista/crested butte/aspen regions...

you can take trails from buena vista over to taylor park reservoir over to aspen then back down to crested butte

Thanks, I'll have to take a look at those. Looking to get off of the pavement and not see it until it's time to head back east.

that sequence of trails is probably 98% dirt and will take around a week to do it all...but you can cut out certain portions...could do it in 3-5 days if you don't mind long days in the saddle

What's considered a long day? How many miles total? And will most of the passes be clear of snow in July or August? Anything worth hiking that can't be seen with the truck?

Thanks for the info, never been in CO but the scenery and terrain looks awesome.

there's tons of hikes in that region...14ers, rock climbing, hikes to lakes and waterfalls and plenty of old mining ruins

spend some time researching the area, look at hike reports and trip reports to pick out some things you want to see. make a list and prioritize them.

9-10 hour days and you can knock off a couple trails...i.e. early start on engineer pass down to mineral creek, head up red mountain pass (road) to black bear pass to telluride will get you into town after dinner assuming no major backups or issues.

or do a trail and a hike for a day.

    many options...

 One of my inspiration builds. Now I just need front and rear steel plated bumpers (rear with tire gate), black wheels, bestop super top, pro comp 7032s, 20% tint, and aftermarket tail lights and I'll be close. Expensive list, but I will have my dream truck then.

yea we're in contact with him. cover has a rip in it from one of the hinges where a bolt came out and veered its way into the cover. the zipper works, but doesn't have a tab on it to pull on, so zipping and unzipping is a pain but doable. the front door has one side zipper the other is broken. but that's not a big deal really.

not a new tent though so some issues are expected when getting a hand-me-down

    oh okay.

My zipper handle broke off after the 4th time getting it caught in the tent while zipping in up. Ran some Para500 chord through it for a handle and works like a charm.

    Bummer about the rips though.
