Best tank I've ever gotten was 18.9mpg. Pre lift/tires I was averaging around 17mpg, now it's more like 16.

Not bad at all, I am hoping after my trip that I can meet or exceed that. 26.8 on a Tacoma is nothing to sneeze at.

I got 23mpg over a 170 mile trip coming back from wheeling and camping in my 06 AC OR Prerunner. I was going up and down mountains too. I was dumb founded. I had only gotten 22mpg twice before and one of those times was at the end of June. I typically get 17 in the city going to an from work, but I do have a lead foot though.

I was running air-conditioning as near 100 temps. I know around town using air conditioning drops the mileage a bit. Not sure about highway driving with air-conditioning. Also I didn't use cruse control much as I get better mileage with out it. But it comes in handy to give my foot/leg a rest once in awhile.

I get over 21 everyday in a 13 doublecab 4x4. I commute 85 miles a day round trip. Almost all highway. I put the cruise on 70. I use the cheap gas too...

Just had my first fuel up on my 07 DCLB and got 20.3 mpg. I drove like a grandma for most of the time and most of my driving is 18 miles one way to work and then 18 miles back. Not too shabby.

    I get between 13.8 and 14 MPG... :(

I do 98% city style driving –*all stop and go traffic, red lights, stop signs, with 50 mph spirts in-between...

I have slightly larger tires (265/70/r17), but they're class C (which means they're lighter tires).

I sure hope I can get 20 mpg on my 1000 mile road trip at the end of this month...

Just so you guys know, bigger tires = better highway milage (think bigger gear on a bike).

And a heavier tire should help highway milage too, but I'm not sure on this...

Slow 55 to 60 90% of the time, 70mph tops. Wanted to find out what it's capable of getting.
Besides the shell, there was about 300lbs in the bed.

Not if you switch to something like Duratracs. I lost mileage (1-2mpgs) when I switched.

Mine is a supercharged 4x4 but on long highway trips I can get 20mpg, which I am happy with...especially considering the cost of premium. In town it's a struggle to not romp the gas so i'm a good amount below that. I previously drove a single cab Chevrolet truck and it couldn't sniff 20.

So just out of curiosity how can Toyota with a straight face claim 22 city and 29 HWY or 25 combined. 95% of people don't get anywhere near those numbers. I know mods are going to knock it down but even people with stock are no where near those numbers.

I have no clue on mine yet as it's brand new and I only have 260km on the truck so far.

    No Tacoma is rated 21/27/23.

    5-lug 2.7ll sticks easily do 21/25/23

    5-lug 2.7L autos easily do 19/24/21

Pre-runners on the other hand shouldn't be the same EPA as 5-lugs, i agree. Driving 80 with those won't get you 24-25 highway, but driving 55-65 will.

edit: why did you edit to 22/29/25? Imperial? That can be done then.

Sorry man, I was looking at the Canadian tacoma site and wrote the wrong numbers down and went and re edited it. I guess I forget the difference between the US and imperial

    According to the Canadian site

    http://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/vehicles/tacoma/specifications/capacity#cp4

It just said MPG so I wasn't sure.

I got 20.5 in 2009 Prerunner with 265/75/16 Duratracs. Had 42 psi in them.

Yeah, the fuel economy was my only concern when purchasing the truck, I loved everything. I wasn't seeking out a supercharger but the truck had everything else I wanted and was the price I wanted, so I figured I would give it a shot. Personally, as someone not too concerned with advanced HP or torque, I would probably trade it away for an extra MPG or two. But, as you said...i'm getting surprisingly good numbers and driving very conservatively at this point so I have no complaints.

Update. I reached our destination with a fully loaded bed, clothes, food etc. I averaged 21.8 and that was doing 70 with the AC off and on. I'm hoping to do better on the return, but at almost 22 mpg for a truck this size I'm happy with the results.

Very good, especially with it loaded. If you slow down your mileage should get even better. My first pickup was a full size Ford. First trip with it driving at 70mph mileage was 13mpg. Slowed down to 62 mph and fuel mileage increased to 16.2mpg. That was back in the days when gas was cheap, less than a dollar.
