Best Topper on my 09. I like it so far. At least it keeps my stuff in the bed dry and my hunting gear out of plain sight. I picked it up used from a buddy for $300

    Just installed my new Softopper.
Even though you guys all said it here, I am very surprised at both the quality and how useful this thing is. Way cool!

I just ordered a bestop for my "Old man tan". I'll post pics of it up. I think i'll be the first DSM with the bestop :turtleride:

Nice. Would like to see those.

I think the Bestop looks a little better, but the Softopper fits my needs a little better (I will be putting top up and down, and I thought the window removal and storage on the Bestop would make it a little more cumbersome)

    Me too!

I agree the softopper and the bestop look pretty good to me but having the windows, for a future pet, more versatility for whatever items i may have to fit in acquired positions kinda pushed me into the bestop. It was a pretty tough decision but looking at sytfu510's build helped also. :D

What im saying is the windows being able to come out; i'll be be able to fit stuff that may end up extending out width wise, if that makes sense? I dont plan on regularly hauling weird loads but if i do, i'd like to be able to adjust my topper as many ways as possible.

    Versatility is the aim.

As i flip through all the pics, I notice alot of trucks running the SoftTopper without the clear side windows. My question is, how is the visibility? I've driven trucks with bed caps without clear windows and couldn't believe how much it sucked trying to look around. Lastly, I have a Barcelona Red Tacoma and was wondering what everyone thought about putting on a tan top or going with the traditional black top. Maybe anyone with pics??

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Hey infernal. Look at my photos for black on red. Also their website has good pics. Softopper.com

I got a Softopper over Labor Day because the sale was a good deal. Anyway I wanted a supertop but since Bestop doesn't make one for 1st gen DCSB I had to go with Softopper. After installing it and having it on for a couple weeks, I'm glad I got the ones did. It's awesome! And does everything I need plus I can roll the sides up so easily. For those who think having a topper without side windows would be an issue, I'm here to say its not an issue at all. You can see just as well as before.

Thank you very much for your input and upon further review, a windowless black top would probably be best!

Those pics are very nice in black, more than likely going to go with that. Thank you again.

Installed the softopper a few weeks ago. Followed the instructions closely but it looks like the whole thing can go forward another inch or two.
How close to the cab is yours ? Mine is about 2 inches at the top of the window.

Yours seems to be right where it should. I tried moving mine forward and it doesn't look right (IMO) because then the bed sticks too far out past the back window. I wish it was flush with the rear window but your sits right about where mine does.

is it me or snaping the bottom pieces of the bestop to the bed rail hard as a mofo, the fabric needs to stretch more i feel... I have every side secured down except for the corner.
