I've been thinking about de-flaring mine and cutting 2" off the fenders themselves. I want to run 35s..

what, me not wanting to lose a finger?

it depends on who you work for and at what point of the stream you're at (design/production/operation/etc.

everyone told me i wouldn't use anything i learned in college. maybe i just got lucky with a very practical education or something, but i use just about everything i learned in the classroom. i've had a lot of hands on/field experience too though, and what i picked up there is equally important.

as long as you're always learning throughout your career i guess

i've been deflared for a while. i like it. i'm happy with the left over holes being filled though, makes the flare removal look intentional, instead of an afterthought.

Grinders always get me the worst.....even with gloves.

I'm pretty good at not whacking my fingers. Never actually lost a nail, but I have drilled plenty to release the pain

 Grinder wounds make me cringe... Something about the idea of it scraping off your flesh rather than just cutting it. haha I've been careful enough to not do that yet though.

I've heard several times that it is fake and doesn't really work. Never tried though.

Grinders, sanders, hammers, you name it, they are all made to tear up shit a lot tougher than we are. My problem is I always get in a hurry and it always turns out the same.
Even welding can be bad, besides the obvious flash burns and slag (especially in the ear drum) there is the sneaky spark down the sleeve, it's amazing how flammable deodorant is, by the time you roll around like a maniac and get that shit put out you've got blisters up your back and shoulders, half a shirt and half your hair. Forget about deodorant for months too, too raw, you just sweat a lot more and it burns like hell too......so I hear.
