Will all of these "what should I buy for my taco?" threads, it got me thinking about how you all save for your mods. There seems to be a lot of people who don't fully consider their mods before they buy them and that seems reckless, but who am I to judge?

Personally, I won't put anything on my truck that I couldn't pay for outright and haven't researched to death, so how do you all pay for/ justify these purchases?

Well trying to find ways to spend your money won't really get you very far but just put a bit from every paycheck into another account to save up.

Whatever money is left over after all the bills and food and whatnot gets saved, and eventually turned into truck parts. Bonus's at work are always truck part money. I'm a full time student and work at Lowes.

I pay cash for all my mods. I keep my credit available for emergencies. A mod will never go on my credit card.

I use my truck for work and get paid mileage. That mileage usually goes towards truck parts, trips and other presents for myself! The salary goes towards the house and bills and whatever else the better half thinks we might need.

Yes! Thats good to hear. I guess I look at mods like a hobby and I have a set amount of money to spend it every month. I prioritize maintenance and upkeep first, utilitarian mods second, and fun mods last.

It amazes me that some people go into serious debt to buy their vehicle and then more debt putting useless or ill conceived mods. I guess it is the conservative in me, but I figure people are grown up and can spend their money however they want, but don't expect me to bail you out if you go broke!

Edit: I guess this sounds kinda preachy. What you do with your money isn't my business, but just thought I would ask.

Ive developed a really cool program that takes the rounded up tenths of a cent from transactions online, and deposits it into an account. Over time, I should have 75 bucks.

I find a "mod" or "accessory" that I want and then I save for it. Then I do it all again for the next one............College student budget does that to you :/
