My leaf springs squeaking is about to drive me fucking crazy. I've sprayed WD-40, some lubricant my dad had from power plants they use on machines, nothing works.
Anyone have any ideas? I know they said to jack it up and take the tire off so the springs spread apart a tad and then clean and spray some chain lube on them.

The only problem is I don't have a jack or a 4-way to take the tire off other than the shitty one that comes with the truck.

Anyone have one that would be willing to help me with this? I can't take it much more. every damn bump it squeaks.

Haha, that's just called being a dick running through the car wash with mud on it. I just don't want excessive amounts of mud under the truck, no mud bogging for me.

Have been bored today and had nothing I could think of to do to my truck ..my mom told me she wanted to paint my niece's pink power-wheels golf cart that is faded from being in the sun all the time.

So I went to where I always am.. Wal-mart, and picked up a can of fluorescent yellow paint and gloss black and some clear coat. Haven't finished yet but I think it'll turn out pretty cool.

Blacking out yellow always looks decent. :D

Have to get more paint when I go to work tonight, will paint more tomorrow.

It has kept me pretty busy, i'm ready to get it finished.

Might throw a black stripe down the middle maybe? haha

Wd-40 is not a lube, it stands for water displacement and it took 40 times to get something that finally worked hence wd-40

I found some dry lube by liquid wrench and it worked for awhile, but my problem was where the leafs attach to the spindle, the only real fix it to remove them and lube with grease, or replace the bushing. That's where you are probably getting the squeak.

Yeah when we install my AAL, i'm going to go ahead and clean them real good and hit them with some chain lube(heard it works great) and hopefully that'll clear up the problem.
What exactly is the bushing for/do? Why would it be squeaking?

I lowered my last truck and then put 700lbs of lumber in it, blew both bushings out. It squeaked with every bump, when I sat in it, anything. The bolt that attaches the spindle and holds the leaf spring up rotates inside the bushing, if the bushing is blown its rubbing metal to metal or misshaped plastic, you could probably get some cheap axle grease or similar that wont deteriorate plastic and lube it up, some guys even add zwerk fitting/grease fittings to them so they just attach a grease gun and lube it right up.

Would it be easier to just replace them? How much are they to replace?

Thanks. I'll do this first and see if it's the leafs and if it still happens I'll go ahead and replace the bushings. How can I tell if they are in need of being replaced?

Slowly drop the rear leaf springs and take a close look on each side of them and the try to inspect the hole and see if its straight through, you'll probably have to tap the bolt out with a hammer, I' d try lubing first also.
