I don't value insurance companies opinions. Don't they classify the Jeep as a station wagon? :D

And I agree, OP can drive whatever he wants, but he did post on a Tacoma forum with a bunch of people who have thier opinions about his choice of vehicle.

I shouldn't say this but :anonymous: ... when I had my Jeeps (CJ-5) and (CJ-7) ... I felt guilty when I scratched the paint on the doors sills getting in and out of them ...

Always lined my pickup beds with rubber mats, and rubber sides to keep from scratching the beds.

Guess that I am not an off road guy ...

But ... now looking at 2004 Gen 1 off road beater (mechanically sound) that I can take off road and scratch the paint ... :D

Nothing wrong with that. Ill be the first to admit my truck is a posing pavement princess. The only trails it sees is a few lite trails getting to where I have to launch my kayaks. I just couldn't stand to take mine off road and beat the living shit out of it.
That said... my wife and I are talking about buying a side by side atv with 4 seats to haul out to colorado next year and ride the alpine loop with my 8 year old daughter. My daughter loves the mountains as much as I do. That way we wouldn't be taking our ride back home on the trails if something were to break.

It would. In fact my wife and I took our old jeep on it the first time we did it and never put it in 4wd. But your right...a atv would be more fun. The last time we rode on it was with out atv's and we were able to explore some of the more rugged side trails.

    no,
essentially...I compared the ride & interior of my Tacoma (2nd one btw) to the ride & interior of my friends Ridgeline. And both the ride & interior of the Ridgeline is superior to the Tacoma.

    nothing more...nothing less

I included no comment of of why, including engineering analysis.

I made no post about which vehicle is more truck than the other. or if one is "supposed" to buy a truck for its ride or not.

technology is plenty far enough to supply a quality ride along with truck capabilities...including a quality interior.

    btw...my 2012 Tacoma came w/ 4-pack leaf springs.
btw #2...I never wore a helmet on a bicycle in my life.

Interesting to see some people here think the Ridgeline's interior is better. I've ridden in a colleague's Ridgeline. In my opinion the interior is pretty archaic, somewhere between a 1st gen and 2nd gen Taco. Also, I would hate to drive with the column shifter, because manual downshifts are harder to do.

Am older interior can still be better. Honda better understands premium touches IMO. I do dislike the column shifter, but outside of that, I think the Ridgeline interior is much more upscale.

Column shift ftw. Makes for a roomier interior.

Never knew that the ridgeline interior was that bad. I love the interior of civics.

I hated those column shifters growing up, but I would love to have one now.

... ^^^ ... Thats is my truck (almost, except no 4WD button & no dual zone thermostat readout in above pic.) in color ... not too sexy, dated interior and column shifter took some time to get used to ... but frees up floor with FWD. Have to select 4WD lock on dash for 4WD. Sales guys said it did 80 front 20 rear unless computer divided power when tires were slipping ..... unless 4WD dash button was pushed.

Not sure what he said was true and I will read the manual later on this as I never go off road (except accidentally in wet grass).

PS .... I really miss the driver's side pillar grab handle the most though ...

It looks like that giant door handle is supposed to be your oh shit handle.

One of those premium touches I was talking about is steering wheel cruise. I hate the cruise stick and the digital clock Toyota has used for 5 decades or whatever.

It's funny you mention that. I was looking at the clock in my truck on the way to work this morning and was thinking that, yes it is dated, but it is perfectly situated. One of the little touches I like. Funny thing is though... My FR-S has the exact same clock and it doesn't match the interior very well at all even though it serves the same function.

... ^^^ ... I like the "oh shit handle" a lot, really love it ... but since I screwed up my back in the military many years ago (and getting older ) ... that Tacoma "pillar grab handle" is fantastic and really missed.

I wonder what a room full of Toyota & Honda engineers could come up with ... .... maybe the best new thing ever ... :D

PS ... The people on the Ridgeline forum (mostly older crowd than here) are very friendly and helpful. Both forums have their own "special sauce" ... kinda like the old Tunda forum that I used to visit before this forum.
