Have a 2011, but today I would purchase a Nissan Frontier instead. New Frontier is much improved over previous models. Tacoma is too big, but so are many others! Toyota needs to offer a smaller pick-up as the previous Tcacomas were. Think only GM and Chrysler now offer actual small trucks.
Have the access cab SR5 and it is OK, but not impressive. Not a comfortable ride, some options are only available in more expensive packages with 4WD, no bag hook sor cargo net in rear seating area . Premium audio, etc. was not available in 4 cyl/manual/SR5 in 2011. Do like that has access cab, whereas most other trucks are either regular cab or four doors.

Had an 84... now a 13. Still in love!

Points of improvement are power for the course. I have offered up my services to Toyota for the 2014 engineering cycle but they don't return my calls. :D

At the end of the day I NEED a standard transmission to be happy so it was either Tacoma or Ram 2500. No choice for me there... the Dodge doesn't even fit in my wee urban garage.

Besides if I didn't have things to mod/improve what would I do with all that time and $$$.... might be tempted by crack... think about it!

One can never have too many light bars.
Asking this on this site is like going to a bar and asking who enjoys alcohol. Generally speaking, most people on this site are tacoma fanatics. If they didn't like them they probably wouldn't spend thousands of dollars modding them out or 100's of hours combing this site for new ideas.

My clutch pedal also squeaks. Plan to talk to dealer when I take it in for service.
Have you complained to dealer about it?

The same shit everyone else has.
I've owned mine for about 2 months now and really like it alot.

I hate the gas mileage it gets but deal with it because its what it is. and I hate the fact that the window switches don't light up.

As much bs that ive had with the truck (fixes and struggles with replacement parts), I have to say I love the shit outta my Tacoma. Not sure if I would go ahead and buy a new one (hate the "advances" in the new vehicles) but I would look for another Toyota for sure.

    Bone stock. For now.
I am looking into other options right now (Nissan Frontier, Jeep XJ, Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, etc.).

I like the Tacoma in general. It's a good truck. The gas mileage isn't too bad. The only glaring issue I have with mine is it's an access cab 2WD! I would not have bought this truck myself. I was in kind of a unique situation and wasn't able to go car shopping. I narrowed it down to the Taco. Gave them the specs that I wanted (2001-2004, four-door, 4WD). And this is what I ended up with...

Absolutely love my truck. 2013 DCLB TRD Sport. Only had it a few weeks but love everything about it except one thing. The pathetic payload capacity. 1050 lbs is ridiculous. Before anyone gets all crazy and tell me it's a midsize truck should look closely at this. A toyota Camry has a payload capacity of 1000lbs, yes only 50 lbs less than my truck. With four grown adults in the truck and a full tank of gas I can't legally put ANYTHING in the truck bed. There's food for thought! I knew this before I bought it but it still pisses me off. I will be putting air bags in it and carrying a small camper in the back. I will be about 200lbs over weight when all said and done but what can you do. Other than that it's an awesome truck.

Loved the truck. I had 3 of them in a row. 2003, 2005, 2011. Better gas mileage would be a huge improvement. With the new technology they should be able to improve the fuel mileage in the Tacoma. Whether by a switch when you aren't hauling or towing for better mpg. Or sensors that know if you are hauling or towing.
I had to trade my 2011 for a camry(28-40mpg). I was getting 15mpg in my v6 and I drive 30,000 miles a year. I did it because I need to save money at the moment. I'll be back in a Tacoma in a few years. I love the trucks.

Well, I moved to a Tacoma from my 08 Tundra because it was too big for my garage and I thought the Tacoma would get better gas mileage.

The gas mileage difference was not enough of an increase to justify the change. The engine is louder, runs rougher than the Tundra, but it still runs good. My biggest disappointment with the Tacoma is the crappy single coat clear coat paint and the seats. I have two boys and I've had my seat professionally cleaned 5 times over the course of 3 years. Sitting a soda cup with condensation on it discoloration the seats. Now add a kid with a bathing suit, football gear, etc and you have a chronic problem. I am embarrassed to let people ride in it.

Leather should be a factory option. or stain resistant fabric.
