Good and bad side to it no doubt. I still think it's better than the old school way of running an ad in the newspaper, paying to do it, and having to list your home phone number to call.

I would say more bad than good. I usually just go with word of mouth. It takes longer but less bullshit. Same reason I dont post on the for sale thread here, I dont want the shipping bullshit. I can wait

 

Yeah, with the old school way you'd pay to place an ad then have to sit around either way waiting on people though. Don't miss that.

You guys don't ever meet anybody 1/2 way when selling stuff? I would to keep people I don't know away from my house. And if its someone I do know then all the more reason to be flexible.

If it's a bigger ticket item, I'll drive to meet someone but otherwise no. I never meet people at my house, I usually meet them in a parking lot during business hours. That being said, the TW guys I've dealt with and have been around here for a while I don't mind them coming to my house.

Yeah, figured. There's no way in hell I'd let some random Craigslist person come to my house. What I'm selling might not be much but I don't want them taking inventory when they come over.

 

Come to America with a suitcase and $50 to your name, then make a translation empire lol. Then you can buy something like that. My grandparents worked their asses off. My grandpa worked 2 jobs while going to MIT, after working even harder to get in because he didn't graduate high school

 

If I don't get a good feeling from CL buyers on the phone, I never tell them where I live. That doesn't happen too often, though. The scum of the earth shows up when you advertise something for free. I usually take that stuff to the dump instead. I met a guy at the hardware store today and sold him a hopelessly obsolete wireless router.

Anyone interested in an AWD VW van? Far from free.
