San Diego BS Thread.

My truck through the CEL again a few days ago, and when it first throws it sounds like its only running on 5 cylinders. Once I sit for about a minute in park I can turn it off and start it back up and it sounds normal. So I'm pretty sure it's the bad ignition coil, I called up the dealership and they told me a new one is $107 does anyone have any spares laying around or know anyone who would have one before I give the dealership my money? I know they aren't a common thing to have extras of but I thought might as well ask first.

Check for the code and find out which coil it is noting if thats even the issue, then clear it, swap that coil to another place and wait for code, and recheck, if the code follows the coil, thats your problem.

Chris has reset it twice and the code was saying it was the 6th cylinder misfiring. Once its reset it takes about a week to go off again and everytime it seems to be either at night time or early in the morning. I'm not sure if its the cold start that has anything to do with it, but whenever its midday and hot out it never misfires. I would've swapped them earlier but I have no tools here at my moms house and my dad lives up in san bernardino so I might have to bother chris again...

HA! Cal Worthington... He was finally run out of L.A. county, then from Orange county too, he had amassed a fortune by buying huge lots of high mileage cars for ridiculously low prices (most of them rode hard & hung out wet) Got busted a few times for odometer rolling/tripping, sold warranties they never honored, some other fraudulant shit & they never had enough evidence to really criminally go after, the cities/counties he wanted to set up shop just denied him a sellers licence so he finally wound up down here... loved the commercials
