Jordan's was built with his bike rack in mind its not built to tow anything large. Keep that in mind but for your bike trailer it work no problem.

I don't know how the frames are on the newer ones but I've done this same thing on a few fords and some toyota's as well. I either weld an actual piece of rectangle square stock into the frame rails across the back or I plate in a rectangle... THen I cut the square and slide the receiver into it. I've NEVER had a failure or issue doing it this way. You may have to work your spare tires around it but for me, I'd rather have piece of mind that my hitch is solid and not going to fail having a trailer or bike fall off and killing someone then worrying about the cosmetics of how to mount my tires or whatever else is back there.

The last thing you wanna do is loose your brand new bike on the way home from buying it cause your hitch failed! LOL This picture makes me sad for two reasons... 1, my bike is brand new and shiny vs. thrashed like it is now! And 2nd... Look at those gas prices!

Not a yota but here's an example of how I did one out of plate since I couldn't find a material that would just fit right in perfectly...

Then my bumper still bolts on and slides right around it basically.

That is exactly what I wanted to do! But the spare tires stick about a foot past where the frame ends,so that kinda kills it.

another option would be to strengthen the hell out of your spare tire carrier, and then make a removable hitch assembly that can be bolted up to it and hang off of the back to clear your tires. assuming you can make it strong enough, you just have to watch your tongue weight with it cantilevered that far off the back. with that much leverage, you'd also have to take it easy on turns so the trailer doesn't push your rear end out.

these would be your friend. http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/ID-Tube-Clamp_p_1467.html

    ...too much shit to list.
What size, thickness, and material is the rear most tube? If you wanna tow anything significant you're going to have to do some solid tube work, plating or gusseting. Don't just stick a piece of receiver tube to the middle of it and call it a day.

It's been through a few revisions, but here's my truck and I tow anything I want with it:

That's the reason my tires sit up higher then most do. Everyone that knows me knows I'm more function then form... I'd rather have a good working solid safe no questions asked hitch and my tires sitting a bit higher to clear it then trying to build a hitch around my super cool tire mounts. LOL

Also, look into how much of a drop hitch you're going to need for whatever you're pulling. It may influence how high up you mount it. As mine is, I use a 6" drop but in reality I need an 8" drop to haul my enclosed for both my expo and my yota.

which lowrance if any are you guys using? since my speedo doesn't work i think i might just pick up a lowrance to tell me my speed. its a bit overkill for how often i get to use my truck on the dirt. but evntually down the line i feel it would be useful. would the HDS-5m Gen2 be perfect for the job?

I've had one for about 3 years now and it has become one of the most used pieces of gear in my truck. I have a first gen HDS-5m and I am yet to have any complaints. Added a Topo maps card from PCI ($100) and it has proved worth the expense everytime we have gone out. It has also been my highway speedo the entire time.

I will be either upgrading to one of the 7" touch screen units or adding a smaller piggy back unit since it will now be hard mounted in front of the passenger with the cage done. Most likely the smaller unit since I have no reason to ditch the 5m yet.

LOL, I don't even know what model we have in the race truck but it's got like a 5" screen and is color... I'm still trying to learn it! LOL

It won't take much to talk me into selling it! :D I've got it listed at $16.5K and I've got some room to flex on the price to still pull off what I'm selling it to buy...

I put some piaa lights on the front bumper and I ordered a replacement mirror that should be here this week for the one on the drivers side cause of course, now that it's for sale, I have a rock fly off the rear tire I'm assuming somehow and shatter it. I've never had that happen in all the years I've had it but 2 times ago that I had it out, crack and it shatters into pieces! LOL Whoops, will be good as new hopefully here in the next couple days though.

i was thinking about that as well. but the times when i do go to vegas, it would be fun to keep track of the trails out there. along with being able to plot courses.
thats what im thinking as well. for highway use do you have to download a different mapping system so that you can see all the street and side streets?
