Tacoma 4.0L mileage

I don't keep track of my mileage but I usually get 310 miles with mixed driving around town and some highway

 

This is my second 4.0/auto 4x4 and the first one would struggle to get 20mpg. This one is nearly identical and I haven't seen less than 21 yet. But my driving is almost all highway and the truck is bone stock with 245/75/16's on it. I'm hoping I don't lose much when I go to 16x8 wheels and some slightly more aggressive tires in the near future. I'm hoping with the lighter wheel/tire combo it will make up for the more aggressive tread.

 

I have on 09 double cab and 80% highway 20% around town i get 21-23 MPG
Keep your speed down to 60 MPH use Shell 89 (less ethanol) and run Marvel
Mystery oil in the Fuel. I have gotten as much as 23.7 MPG and I check my mileage
every tankful

 

I got as high as 21 mpg on the highway with my Tacoma when it was stock. With the lift and Duratracs it generally got about 18 on the highway. 17-18 now with the Tundra so at least it didn't drop much to what I was used to getting.

 

'11 Access cab, 4.0, 6 speed. lifted on stock sized tires.

I've been averaging about 18.5 miles mixed.

I just signed up on Fuelly today. For my 1st fill up, I got over 20mpg which shocked me. I figured it would be worse until I get it broken in since I've got just over 500 miles on it so far. If it continues like this, it'll be doing 3-4 mpg better than my Canyon did. It's stock and I'm a fairly laid back driver in the truck but was the same in the old truck.

I had a '97 Silverado and running to Tennessee and back twice a year, the best I could do was 17 mpg. But also I figure the technological advances from then to now account for the improvement in mileage.

 

I drove my new DC 4X4 back from Oregon to California and got 18.1, I wasn't easy nor hard on it. I'm driving it back and forth to work now and will check it out, it's mostly in town driving at this point.

 

2013 DCSB V6 4.0 I have gotten 18.5 on two trips and the one after that was 19.5

 

My 10 DC-SB 4.0 auto with 265/70-16 tires 19.5-20 on a 21 mile one way trip to work...about another 1/2mpg with a synthetic oil switch. I pretty much take it easy on the truck....wish I could see some of the 22+ that others see...

Thought I could do better, but anxious to come home I had a heavier foot than I should have.

 

My all time average is 18.5MPG on my stock truck. My all time average was 13.8MPG on my other 09 that was set up for off road.

I noticed with the scangauge that I lose 2-3 MPG instantly if I drop my tire pressures from 38PSI to the recommended 28/32 PSI...

Increasing tire pressure is the best mod you can do to get better gas mileage, because it pays for itself immediately.

You should monitor if your going over tire pressure specs. I did this in my tundra (when I had one) to help the MPGs and the tires started to couple.

 

I had mine serviced at the dealership. I dropped it off with about 35 psi and when I picked it up it had 40. Thought that was strange, since the door jam shows 29 I think.
