so it doesn't block access to that side of the bed and will allow that side light to be useful in lighting the ladder area

    hahaha

yea man! Thats how you attach the annex is you replace a wall with the cover.

Next time you open it, flip the tarp over like it is in your picture. BEFORE you unfold the tent. YOu can just slide the blue part out of the tent platform. Easy as pie.

    you can see it here.

    ooh that's a slick setup!

guess you won't even be able to use a side light with the annex up...

Yea not really. But, you won't use it a ton either. It takes awhile to setup. In fact i have only used it once with just me and Jess.

But when Grant and Jess were both with me grant slept in it so it was great to have and with 3 of us we set it all up faster then most people just set up camp. All depends on how much time you have really as you have to stake it down.

with the ladder on the outside of my annex, it's a not as nice of a feature as yours too..

i'll be setting up a tarp over the business end of the tent to create more coverage. won't be private but it'll be nice to have shelter when going in and out of the tent.

Ah thats a good idea. Yea my dad has the same tent as you. Though i know he is thinking of sending it back to upgrade to the version with the covered annex. Im sure you could later too if ya wanted.

But making like a larger awning type setup could be pretty cool. I love my awning.

I have a quick question. I would like to get a front steel plated bumper someday. Do they make your truck sag in the front at all when they're on?

Yes. But you have 885s so should handle the weight quiet well.

I'd like to see that.. I've been trying to figure out a low profile bed rack that would allow the tent to be stored under the soft topper, preferably with a way to disconnect it that is easier/faster than the hold down bolts for the RTT

    I found these - http://www.top-tent.com/roof-top-te...oof-top-tent-travel-hold-up-straps?Itemid=131

But I've been trying to decide on my own method before I drill holes to rivet those down. Last time I used it I just stuffed it between the Thule bars, on top of the truck and under the tent. Worked okay but I'm worried that doing that every time could damage the cover.

I'll have to try that with the tent still folded up, but when I have tried it with the tent set up it was a real pain in the ass to slide it at all. I think it's because the ends of the thule bars are sticking out. But maybe your method would work better. I'll try it this weekend. Might be setting up the annex for the first time too.

soon after we run holy cross i'll be looking into a storage unit for the rtt, motorcycle and tires. then comes the soft top and duratracs for the winter. it'll be nice though having the maxtrax, hi lift, shovel and axe all accessible and covered. might keep the rotopax off though and slide the side windows on.

simple solution and a cheap price at least.

I'm hoping to use the rtt in the winter too... Drive up to New England Friday after work and pull into the parking lot at a mountain and set up camp for the night. Ride all day then get a hotel Saturday night, but atleast Friday night will be free

oh yea you shouldn't be able to easily do it with the tent unfolded. The channels meet and interlock causing it to help hold it in more. Can't even imagine removing it with the tent down haha

yea i've thought about that...i love silverton but it's a 6 hour drive..thought about the same deal, drive down late, setup in the lot and ride early

not sure that i want to subject the tent to the winter though

Ok cool that's good to know. Your video wouldn't load for me, but you dont have to slide the Annex in while the tent is folded right?

Nice. Shoe hammock is a good idea. I've been looking for a fan too. I just added an led light strip inside the tent and I have 2 more I'm going to use by the ladder. I think I'm going to add a 12v outlet and then be able to run a 12v fan or phone charger

I've been thinking about sleeping bags to leave in it too
