My co workers first gen, look at that funky tire wear. It confuses me how this can happen. Any thoughts?

I've seen that kind of wear from bad shocks. Kind of like the tire is skippong

Apparently discount tire said it could be a balancing problem and or the shocks. It didnt help that this co worker has had these duratracs almost as long as ive had mine (JUST OVER A YEAR) and never had them rotated. He got the tires balanced so we will see if the front ones start to wear like this in a few months. Its still confusing me though!!!!!

The wear looks like it has a pattern so I think shocks, also are all 4 like that?

I've seen Duratracs do that before. My set did it and they were properly balanced, rotated and definitely had good shocks. I think its something to do with the way they construct the tire. Almost like it was planned since exactly every other lug on mine was worn more.

Weird pattern, but look how nice all those lugs look! I only have 8K on mine and they are all rounded out.

Balance and rotate along with alignments will keep tires from wearing weird

Just the 2 fronts were wearing in this funky pattern. the 2 rears were wearing very even. Thats good to know though Dylan thanks for the info, these are wearing every other lug on the outside like you are talking about. Wonder why just the fronts would wear like this though, defective maybe?

That tire wear is suspension related. What suspension specifically is on it? Bad front struts will cause that. Are all four wearing like that? Just the fronts? Just one?

If it was tires it would be all four. His front struts are shot. His tires are cupping because of the rebound or lack thereof. Used to deal with tire issues a lot with road racing motorcycles. You tend to get pretty good at reading little things like that when your life depends on it.

It could also be an issue with suspension components but most common is improper or worn struts. Along the lines of improper: does he have like a plate bumper or winch and stuff like that?
