I need to get on this. My stock headlights are terrible. Are the Mini D2S much better than the Mini H1 projectors?

I wouldn't say that one is better over the others. They each have their strengths and weaknesses, it really depends on what you are looking for. That being said, a lot of people like the h1. You will have more bulb options in the d2s though

There are output shots of both the mini h1 and d2s in this thread. Not sure which version of the h1 they are using though..

just installed mine. mini h1. The only thing I dislike atm is once I flash my lights or turn them on, they stay on where as before i cut the drl line and they go off.

One thing about HID... do not ever "flash" someone.
Rapid cycling of the burners will leave deposits inside the envelope and result in problems striking.

Once they are on, they need to come up to full operating temperature and be held there for 5 minutes or so before being shut off.

Likewise, when shut off, they need to cool for a few minutes.

Anyone else feel like an idiot when they realized the reason for the weird toothed cap on the headlight adjustment screws was so that you could use a Phillips screwdriver perpendicular to the head of the screw to turn it at 90 deg? Doh!

    LOL!

Ya, but I still had to buy one for the horizontal adjuster down on the side by the fender since my 10-way won't fit the channel.

Yes they need to come up to operating temp before turning off but I don't see why you couldn't "flash" someone in our trucks (provided this is at night and your headlights are already on) since the cutoff shield going down is your "high" beam. Flashing someone in my sister's mazda (separate high and low bulbs) would be a no no.

I just use a rachet and a socket.. 4mm IIRC

Lol, I noticed that too, had to use a standard Phillips, and it really needs to be the bigger head one (No 2, maybe?) for it to work well.

It's 8mm, actually, but yes, that works too, just kinda hard to keep it on and adjust while looking at the beams.

Oh, and yeah, you are right, no problem flashing when they are on, just think he meant when your lights are turned off. If you pull back on the stick to flash, it momentarily fires up the bulbs and then turns them back off.

I am going to order some Mini H1s for my headlights but I really would like to do my fogs too. Does anyone know if the matchbox projectors would fit in the fog light housing? I would have to get something with a clear lens but do they fit? I may just start with the H1s and see how it goes.

Just trim the tabs so you can spin it more.

If they're already on it's cool.
I was referring to the daytime "flash to pass" function.
