So I have big ride problems any ideas would be appreciated
I have an ARB front bumper with a warn 9.5ti and an all pro rear bumper
3" lift with walker Evans front coil overs and rear shocks and all pro rear leafs also all pro upper control arms plus walker Evans street lock rims with bfg ta's 10ply
It's been so rough since I installed everything that I can't even drive it so I pulled everything off and sent to walker Evans for revalving they revalved and changed springs to eibach 800lbs from the stock walker Evans 600lbs now it is still way too rough and also feels like a springboard
I have 4 other vehicles with lifts and none are even close to this rough no one will ride in it and I can barely drive it and walker Evans and all pro are at a loss for solutions
It is worse than my 1 ton dodge much much worse need to get this figured out wish I would have gone for king shocks instead at this point but not sure that would help either if so would go that route if needed

    10 ply u say..................what psi are u running?

and how high are the c/o cranked

I assume they added the 800# coils so u could avoid cranking down on the c/o?

otherwise, why crank down on the c/o and use heavier springs for an already harsh ride?

    springboard?

as in u have poor valving now?

Id call Sonny or Micah at Downsouth Motorsports

I think your front spring rate is way too high. The typical rate for ppl with a front bumper, skids and a winch is 600 lbs. 800 will be too stiff and won't flex off road. Also what valving are you running? My stiff 255/70 valving doesn't cause any problems for me. Finally, what tire pressure are you running? With stiff tires you might need to drop it down to 30 psi or so.

Had 600 lbs springs they were not enough is what walker Evans said and they revalved them at same time they put the 800 lbs on And I've tried 30-60 psi in tires with very very little help

And I only cranked the c/o down enough both times with the 600 and 800 so I would have my correct ride height with the 3" lift
So with the 600 was about 3" maybe a touch more and with the 800 about 2-2 1/2"

Try airing your tires down to 20 psi and feel it out. Your 800# spring rate will still be stiff but check to see if the tires bulge and soak up some of the bumps.

Would like to take it down to 20 but don't think I could drive it around as daily driver like that
This ride problem is on pavement dirt etc (all terrains all the time)
Very frustrated. One thing I noticed with everyone's pics is can't find anyone else with the walker Evans so I'm wondering if I switch to kings if that would solve it

20 psi would be unsafe for a daily driver. Begging for a blow out. Stick with the 30. The high spring rate is not going to give hardly any.

^My point is to isolate the component in your suspension that is causing your issue. The best way to isolate it is to change one of your three variables at a time. (shock, tire, spring)

We already know that your springs are too stiff and will be a contributor, but you don't want to go back to 600# springs. So, we are left with shocks and tires. You asked whether swapping out shocks would help, but don't know your valving. Without knowing your valving that question is almost impossible to answer.

That leaves us with only one quick and easy test... the tire stiffness test. If you are running stiff sidewall tires, that could be a key contributor to your ride. So my suggestion is to, in a controlled environment (side streets or deserted area), air down past where you would normally run your tires. First, drive your route at normal pressure. Then air down 10 additional psi. Note the change in ride.

Also, I forgot to ask, what wheel diameter do you run? If you are on large wheels (17s or 18s) you will have less sidewall to soak up bumps as well.

    Good luck,

(EDIT: I think there IS another easy test you can do: My guess is that your 800# springs are not compressing much (if at all) as your truck sits on flat ground. So, when you go over a bump, the truck will hit the top stops on the suspension. This will cause you to feel an impact or shudder as the truck rebounds... like on the top of a rise. My guess is a softer spring will allow the suspension to compress enough to prevent this from happening. The test is to simply measure your suspension length ( for example, wheel to wheel well would work). Then jack up the front of your truck and measure again. If your suspension extends less than 3", you've found your issue.)

    Hope that helps,

    Lumpskie

Lets see a side shot of the whole truck as it sits now? Is it a level stance?

No have not resolved the issue yet been too busy with work but everyone I talked with said they are probably the cause and have recommended king or toyon shocks. I will be back on it next week and let you know what I find out

How much preload are you at the full 3"? I guess if you take some off it should soften the ride. But then your wheels might rub :(
I decided to go with kings. I should get them in 10 days.

I only have enough preload to make the front and rear even and before I did that I tried it and it still had the issues not really sure what is going on but all pro has given up in trying to resolve this issue and walker Evans did what they could I guess. I think you will be pleased with the kings wish I would have gone with them in the beginning I have had nothing but good experiences with them

Have you checked how much drop travel you have? When I installed my kings they said you should have a 1" min drop. I have 2". Also what size tires are you running? Mine are 285/75 r16
And I'm running 3" all poo springs in the rear.
I put as little preload on the springs as possible with out the tires rubbing. Also to level the front because of the driver side gas tank I needed to add more to the driver side! Did you? There for the front sits a little bit lower then the rear. But I would rather have that then more preload! u5ytu5u7_31d5a96898854d25342cb20d3f00e9191ec48d80.jpg

Badgers, I don't need no stinking Badgers.
Are you saying you had three inches of thread showing? thats to much, you are supposed to measure your lift from the center of the hub to the bottom of the wheel well, it should not be more than 23.2 inches thats an 3.5 inch lift, I bet you have a four inch lift right now and are rebounding.

Those all poo springs must be super soft, and kind of smelly also?

They do stink! But I'm having trouble with the front shackels, they are squeaking like crazy. I didn't over tighten them. Nice and lose.
