Had to get a late workout in tonight. Got in there at 9. I hate late workouts. Of course, Monday is international chest day, so I did chest.

    20 @135
    15 @ 155
    12 @ 175
    8 @ 195
    6 @ 205.

I'm dead. But, getting stronger. 2 weeks ago I struggled to get 6 reps at 185 after all the other reps. Next week I go back to lifting heavy, so we'll see what this month of switching things up has done for me.

    thanks, i'll look into that.

i never said the 5x5 was bad, i actually really like it, my elbows have just been quite sore so im thinking the constant heaving lifting could be the problem.

    i have two workouts

workout 1. flat bench, bent over row, dead lift, dips

workout 2. standing front barbell shoulder press, squats, easy bar curls

all 5x5 alternating each workout with a cardio day. i pride myself on good form, always have been a form before weight type of person.

i am actually trying the same workout but with light weights and super setting two exercises with 1 min breaks. yesterday was my first workout (workout 2) and i already noticed my elbows not hurting as much. we'll see how it goes.

Check your grip on the bars. Some tendons in your elbow are on muscles that are used to grip bar and stabilize your wrist when your lifting. Death gripping will kind of fubar the tendons and may give you some issues. Along the lines if tennis or golfers elbow.

I have to use a smaller diameter bar so I can get a nice grip with out over straining everything. I have womanly hands though :p

Nah, my one rep max is 245 (about a month ago). After doing the 20/15/12/8/6 workout I had trouble repping 185 6 times. That workout is pretty exhausting. I did 195 last week, then went up to 205 this week. Go back to heavy weight next week. Gonna see if a month of light lifting got me any stronger. My goal is to put up 300 by May of next year, which will make 1 year since I've been back in the gym

I have tried hook grip, still getting use to it. doing clears with it makes me a little uneasy but dead lifts are usually pretty good with it.

for my bench i use the thumb under the bar grip not wrapped around, and when i am doing my deadlifts and bent over rows i use straps so i can consentrate more on the muscle being worked.
are you refering more to the width of my grip?

i did my chest/back/tri's workout today. supersetting bench and bent over rows, six sets with 1:30 between sets. then deadlifts with dips. great burn and hard as hell actually, seems easier on the body too but sure gets the heart rate up! i was going to skip between sets but quickly realized i need the break, lol.

idk why, but i don't look that different in pictures but, all my clothes are looser and after i shaved my face people were like "holy shit, how much weight have you lost?!?!" building muscle, especially arms/shoulders but having a tough time losing the belly.....i guess its just gonna take time since i was hella fat

^^ A lot bigger difference then you think. Your biceps, shoulders, and pecs have much more form to them. They are coming out thats for sure

Today there was a guy in the gym grunting like he was squatting 765 pounds, yet he was only doing tricep pull downs  some people.
