Yes the LEDs were that disappointing, anything over 50mph your hating life unless you have some BD LEDs. Now if you're going slow and just taking your time il take LEDs over hids anyday. The beam/spread on the LEDs is just awesome.

I love my LED side mirror lights i made for trails. because they aren't super bright. That way there isn't a ton of refection back at you off the rocks and trees.
But out in the open..fuck that..HIDs for sure.

I have 4 hella 4000's converted to HID on my truck and two piaa 100w halogens on the bumper and love it.

After friday night though, I'll let you know my thoughts on 3 hella 4000's converted to HID with amber lenses and a 50" LED Tough Light bar. They look great on the street but Friday night I'm taking the race truck out to do light adjusting.

My expo will just have a single 50" bar also.

I do have two real hella 4000 HID's laying around too though. The really expensive ones... I've honestly never hooked them up though so I can't comment on them.

It's got the land shark bumper! LOL

People that want the latest and greatest ultra sun bright lights at all costs make me laugh sometimes. People dropping 4 digits worth of cash into lighting is insane to me unless you're a TT or front running 1400 type rig. I mean really, how fast are you gonna go??? I've always been a firm believer in get just a bit more light then you really need to error on the side of safety. Beyond that, I feel like you're just tossing money. A couple converted hella 4000 HID's is more then enough light for most people in the desert in my opinion. Hell, if you knew how long I ran with just a pair of 120w halogen piaas on my bumper and didn't feel like I needed more light you'd laugh!

If I hadn't scored the 4 hellas I run on my roof rack for almost free I'd probably still would be rocking just the two piaa's on the roof.

I'm not saying EVERYONE is this but I am saying a lot seem to be!!! LOL now if you're getting your lights cheap and hookup prices I totally understand but if you're paying retail and rocking a 50" LED bar with a grip of other LED smaller bars... Damn, you're way more baller then me! I really would expect a badass suspension and bypasses all around though before you dropped $2000 on your lights! LOL

Here's what we're lining up to race with in 2 weeks. The front 3 are all ambers now though... I see trucks with WAY LESS capability running like 2-3 times the lighting we are! LOL

Agreed, i dont get people's boners for lights. There is not a single truck on this site that could out run a few Kragen HIDs.

it's just a "because you can" thing. most people don't have the knowledge or money for a full on race build, but a $1500 rigid bar is easier to stomach price wise, and installable with a tool kit from wallyworld. and at that point, their goal is probably looks anyways, so you can't knock them for setting and reaching a goal.

    ...too much shit to list.
    :smack: Because racecar!!

Total agreement. I can't outrun my Kragens at all. The only reason I have the single row LED bar is because it's the amber one. I bought that so I can still drive like a racecar in the snow up here in winters.

Yeah, but that person running their $1500 rigid bar on their fabtech lifted chevy... Okay, I get it, it's all for looks. If that's their goal, more power to them.

But I laugh at people with an entry level prerunner kit, some bolt in deavers and a bedcage rocking like $2000 in lighting. They're obviously trying to build a performance truck yet they decided the lights were more important then the cage or suspension or shocks or steering or or or... LOL That's kinda the ones I laugh at.

People always say, there's no such thing as too much light. If you're in a TT or a truck running 100mph thru the desert, I will agree that with todays lighting technology, there's no such thing as too much. But with the speeds "most" of us go, common... In reality, my pair of 120 piaa halogens were just fine! A light bar though is pretty rock star status so I had to step up. At the time though... I had most of the other basis covered as well...

    Look ma, it's got leafs!

I guess I just don't get how people decide to drop big money on lighting before steering, cages, shocks, spindles and stuff that will actually provide real performance or real safety. If you're rocking just a lifted truck around town that looks nice, trust me, I get it... But if you're trying to build a performance truck it sure seems like you're spending your money backwards. LOL

Heck, I got real rockstar status bling with this one!!! (I also was fully caged, full fuel system, steering, legit front suspension, decent interior, and linked before I added this goodie) That's why it's not included with the truck purchase, if the truck sells, I gotta transfer the rockstar bling to it's replacement! If the truck doesn't sell, it'll get reinstalled...

Yup, you totally just lost a minute of your life!!!
