I tried that. Had my camera on bulb mode, had my ISO as low as 400, but my lens was only on f4.5 and f5. So f8 or so and still lower ISO?

 

Plus I would like to get the D800 someday. Probably when they do a price drop on it. And when I get the money. They are sweet.

If you are underexposing with the D70 it will also show more pronounced noise in your pics. You don't have auto iso on do you?

Also a D90 would reduce your noise a good bit too. D70 is getting kinda old now and the newer cameras shoot low light a lot better. Keep practicing with your lenses, it took me almost a year before I learned to push the glass to the limit.

 

What body are you using?

 

Yeah. I've had this one for a while. It's been a hand me down camera since my dad bought it when it came out. My brother now has his old D300 and my dad has a D4 now. We like photography if you can tell. Lol

 

medic2230: its a nikon d7000. debating on picking up a d7100 so i can have a second body; one dedicated for the 70-200 vrii i just picked up, and one for general purpose/wider angle.

 

I'm shooting a D7000 too. D7100 looks nice but, I'm going FX next time.

 

medic: nice! in the end fx is the way to go. i just not too sure IM ready to make the fx jump yet. i know my logic of having two crop bodies doesnt make one lick of sense LOL. maybe ill just invest in a fx body to fool around with. i dunno well see! i dont even know whete to begin with fx bodies. which are good what body is equivalent to the d7100? if i go fx i dont need the top of line body. a d7100 equivalent would suffice.

 

The D600 may be worth looking at

 

Did they fix the issue with dust getting past the sensor curtain on the top left side?

 

fearnothing: after looking over the fx bodies. the d600 looks like a pick that i would be happy with. it scored higher vs the d7100 and also the d800, which surprised me because of the 800 being more "advance". was the 600 out for a while like how the d7000 was?

also i really dont like how the d4 and the d3x look LOL. i know they are the best of what nikon offers, i like the more traditional camera look. if i wanted a vertical grip i would just buy one lol.

 

yeah i used to have the 70-200 it was awesome this time im going to get the OS ver. and thinking about getting the 24-70 f2.8 also.

Other than extended battery life and another angle to grip, are there other benefits to a grip I'm not aware of? Just curious really. I don't plan on every getting one. jw

 

depends. I loved the grip on the D300s. gives you the joy stick and shutter to shoot vertical. gives it a more solid feel when using big glass. and the added benefit of double batts. Or if you had money to blow could use the D3 batt and shoot a faster FPS.

 

I just assumed it was the versatility/battery life combo and realized I have no idea if there are any other perks.

 

yeah if you shoot vertical, its a huge plus. IHO
