Hey guys. Today I finished getting my exhaust done. Like the title says, I got the DTLT Headers, "custom" y-pipe, and Flowmaster 50 series muffler.

I'm really diggin the way it sounds, but probably not everybody will. I'll try to get a video tomorrow, but I've got pics for now!

This is right before I put the driver side header on.

This is how my y-pipe is layed out.

Also, curious about that Y collector before the Muffler; seems like the two pipes flow into each other. Maybe a different angle will help me understand it better.

Nice job, and BTW if you dont have any rasp; your set up is a success story... :D

The rasp is only present between 2k and 4k really. Before and after that, sounds good. :) And even the rasp itself isn't as bad as it was with stock y pipe.

MsTrd, I got the headers from URD. (Gadget is the man.)
    http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.php?cPath=93_120&products_id=1260518539

The y pipe was made by a local exhaust guru. I've known about him for a long time and his reputation around here is widespread.

I can get a better picture of the collector in just a sec.

    Thanks for the comments! :D

Roxspin, it appears the two pipes do flow into each other. I haven't studied it really until now. I personally think he did a good job. I will recommend him to everyone that asks.

No. He cut the stock y-pipe right after the rear cats. I wanted to keep the cats just in case. But the car inspector guy I go to lives next door. :D

I chose to do a new y-pipe cause I read somewhere that a new y-pipe will help eliminate the rasp caused by the headers. I'm not a big fan of rasp. Also, the stock y-pipe is pretty restrictive. I didn't really plan on gaining hp from just changing out the y-pipe, but I do believe it flows better now.

honestly, ur not really gonna gain that much from the y-pipe... and the stock y-pipe is you BEST bet for no rasp. ur still restricting flow since u still have ur cats

EDIT: the flow u feel is ur headers. but the y-pipe should still be the same performance wise... just gut the whole thing!!

Yeah, I see what you mean by the cats restricting the flow. But I have to disagree with the stock y-pipe for less rasp. I don't have proof or anything, but I drove it with stock and how it is now. I believe more of the rasp is gone now. But really, that could be cause the over-all sound of the exhaust is louder, you know what I mean?

Not trying to call you a liar or start stuff, this is just my opinion.

I like it, but everybody has different opinions on exhaust sounds.

I'll try to get a video tomorrow so you guys can somewhat hear it.

word... but the stock y-pipe is ur best bet.... lots of people have taken out their y-pipes and went straight back to stock cuz of the raspyness.. so u drove around with ur headers installed and just the stock y-pipe before ur custom?? find it kinda hard that u found more rasp with the stock.

Yes. I drove it for 3 days with stock y-pipe.

But like I said, I might be overlooking the rasp due to the overall volume increase of the exhaust.

Either way, I'm happy now. :D

Sweet man. Does JBA make long tubes? Or you going with Doug Thorleys?

I'm glad we don't have smog checks and stuff. People would fail constantly here. But we do have "modified exhaust" tickets. :( (Knock on wood) Haven't had one yet. :D

It was just an assumption, But Im sure it hardly makes a difference. Those are some nice welds. Im having my guy remove the Doughnut flange connecting the Ypipe to the Catback like you did. Hopefully he can weld it up as clean as yours looks...
