The best part of the powered light rack is you put it at like a 45 degree angle and use it to light up the pedestrian walk ways over the strip and blind tourists and crap here in Vegas.

The LED part is nice though because you don't need to worry about a higher output alt. or 2nd battery since the draw is minimal. An LED can't touch the distance of a HID. Personally I would rock either one and be very happy.

Even HIDs don't draw as much as a ton of halogens. But LED don't draw anything haha it is nice. But when you have as many lights as me its nice to have. Plus big stereo that i like to run at night when the rig is off and a winch. and fridge..Proves to be useful.

For just the lights though, didn't need the alt, but it helped with voltage drop. With all 22 lights(only 10 were not LEDs) i had over a volt drop down haha no issue now.

Difference between my bigger alt and an upgraded stock HO one is mine is more useable as it puts out 110 at idle. a HO stock on wont do even close to that till your driving. Just food for thought if anyone is thinkign of upgrading..the Gm alt bolts right in..

But i do agree the biggest advantages for LED is low current draw and longer life. IMO its nice to have a bit of LEDs and big lamp HIDs. the more you ahve the more situations you can adapt too.

do you have a part # for the GM alt? and is it necessary to run 2 batteries with the GM alt?

X2 on having a mix. Some HID's on top, and then a nice 40 or 60 deg. bar off the bumper for the close stuff. Or even in an amber.

    x2. For future reference.

    And LEDs are hella nice.

My two LED Kragens are wired right into my stock fog light wiring, and draw less amps then the stock fogs did!!!
