I just installed what looks very similar to a Mr. Marv box on my Tacoma. I'm thinking I maybe should stuff it as well for my 2 12's.

What do you use to fill it, and how do you know how much to use? Never done this before.

You'll want to use this stuff. Most people just refer to it as poly fill. Start by adding one pound per cubic foot of space. Then add or remove some until you get the sound you're looking for. You can also find this stuff at craft and fabric stores (its used for pillows and quilts I think).

You can also find it at Walmart, I think they have it as Polyfil and it's in the crafts section.

That's what I was hoping you would say. Same stuff used in pillows, might even be cheaper to buy a couple of pillows at a local discounter and gut them.

Only other thing is how to figure out my cubic feet in my box..ugh!

Thread title is really misleading if you don't look at the section it's posted in. I'll FTFY.

46 long..I think 19 tall. Have to check the depth on it though top and bottom, mounting depth is 6.5 or 7

Get me those two depth measurments and the thickness of the material and volume is easy to figure out.

Or just take the easy way and start by loosely stuffing the box, then, as suggested adjust from there.

I would not suggest this method. Do the math and do it correctly the first time around.

This causes you to keep mounting then un-mounting the sub. This will make your hold weaker and you won't get a good clean mount. You can buy some feet that go on the inside and then you can mount/unmount all day long. But if you are using wood screws into wood, don't keep keep removing the sub and putting it back in.

Do the math, fill it, mount the sub and call it a day.

    Good luck!

JK, your way is the proper way. Personally, I've just never had to go back in after the "initial stuff".

i stuffed my 0.75 cu ft box with about 8 oz of polyfill then took it out. it sounded worse to me. i think the thin profile box may have had an affect on it. i know volume should be volume and the shape shouldn't matter, but i found it difficult to loosely pack 8 oz in there. it was probably packed too tight to the point it negatively affected volume.

in the past i put 16 oz in a 1.25 cu ft box and it sounded much better. it was much more of a "square" enclosure.

i believe rule of thumb is 16 oz for 1 cu ft??
