Maybe i'll take the winch to work tomorrow to work on it and see how to get the solenoid off and relocated. Seems like this solenoid might be more of a pain than the typical solenoids because of the connectors it uses internal to connect to the motor.

Make sure you actually need them before ordering a set. You can bend the bracket on the rear lines easily to give you another inch or two. That's what I did and at full droop mine were fine, and I have the extended 5125's giving me more droop than most.

mmmmmmmmmm..... that's sexy lol. I kinda like it in the primer gray, kinda thinking you should leave it like that haha. Cant wait to see it all finished. And don't be too picky about the paint coming out perfect, you will probably end up repainting it in a year anyways.

I put the last of 3 coats on the bumper last night at 7:30. Went back there this morning to check omit. The paint is still very wet. I'm guessing its because of all the humidity last night. Hopefully today's heat dries it up while I'm at work.

So getting the solenoid off was much easier than expected. Now my question is, what gauge wire is used for these things? 4 gauge or somewhere close to that?

Some guys on pirate4x4 run 2ga and 4ga. I don't think you should go too much higher.

From what I can tell on the cables and connectors looks like it came with 8ga. I will do a little more research.

    Never mind, it's 4 gauge.

In my opinion the lower the gauge the less chance
Of high resistance. Even if you went with a lower
Gauge than recommended you shouldn't get negative
Results. Just less resistance. Or am i wrong?

If I move mine under the hood I'm gonna go with either 2ga or 0ga.

I just got 6 feet of red 4ga and 12 feet of black 4ga. I am going to try to mount my remote switch plug inside the cab. I thought about doing the fancy cab switch, but this way I can plug it in and still operate it outside if I want.

    Look at build!

Same winch I installed on Travis9287's truck, I think I used an extra pice of 4ga about 4-5' and had plenty of wire to run to the passenger side of this 03 double cab.. little difference in lengths there im sure but we did the same as you plan to and kept it where he could plug the remote in but also has in cab controls.. found some bolts on the firewall that matched the bracket for the solenoid box perfectly. We also had to clock his for it to fit under the top plate of his bumper so take that into consideration as well.. clocking was easy and took all of about 10 minutes. Good winch though! when he traveled here to SC we put 3 pulls on it in one night and hes used it numerous times back home in Alabama with no issues & ill be replacing my ramsey with one as well!

    edit:
Heres a pic of the solenoid mounted up on the firewall in the first gen..

I did both, just have to plug in under the hood if I want to use the HCU outside.

Why change the lowers? Get a set of Icon extended travel coil overs. Set of Total Chaos uca's. New leaf pack or even a AAL and some new rear shocks. That'll get you 3" of lift.

I might just do that....with the current lift I have now, if I want to get new coilovers or leafs, I have to scrap my current lift which has the strut extensions and lift blocks in the rear, so Im just tryin to figure out what i need to get to make things better. I want something that will give me that 3 or 4in lift while being able to replace the leafs and coilovers, because I want new ones, not the factory stock ones that really look old, im nearly 100% sure im going to have to take my RC lift off to do this

Since the previous owner of this Taco seemed he didnt do much to this truck at all, Id like to replace a lot of things on it, like the leafs and coilovers and the UCAs, so thats why im just lookin at things right now

fuck...my mind is just spining with confusion....im so lost lol
