Just installed the ECGS bushing on my 2013 DCSB 4X4 (OME 3" lift w/ DAKARS). Took me about 3 hours with my 78 year old neighbour helping me out. Did it in my own garage. It seems to have cured all of my front end vibes (40-65 MPH vibes, some intermittent other vibes, and rumbling, moaning, etc). Pretty happy with it. I bought all of the ECGS tool options, which worked well.

Yeah, hopefully i don't get any leaking. I almost installed the oil seal in backwards. My CV shaft is much more snug in the differential now. Put some spidertax on at the same time. Looks good.

Amazing the difference in play isn't it? My truck has a butt load of miles but the slop I've seen on a few 12's with 10-15K on them

    ECGS FTW!

Did you replace the CV shaft at the same time? I've seen in this thread a few with needle bearing marks and didn't know if it was prudent to also replace the shaft or just reinstall the original CV with a few marks on it. Don't know what mine looks like at this time.

I did replace mine since I had purchased a shaft to have on hand in case I had to use it, which I did. Boot was ripped so I replaced the shaft then did the boot later & now have a back up CV shaft.

I did in my research here on this subject. Only reason I am asking is this. I had a '95 Taurus back in '95. It was just the regular GL, but it had a SHO trans in it as an experiment. I bought the car from Hertz, the experimental sticker was on the trans pan and the pan had SHO stamped in it.

It needed a CV axle at one point, so I went to my old partner's garage. He ordered up a rebuilt CV from the local parts house and we changed it out. I took it for a test drive and the boot split, grease everywhere! Sent it back and got another one. This one the tulip came apart and I didn't even leave the lot. Long story short, it took 4 axles to fix the damn thing. I traded it in on a '99 Odyssey because my wife really wanted one and my son was just 6 months old. I didn't want them breaking down with this junker Taurus.

So, I guess I should be asking are the rebuilts still junk? Don't think I want to drop the massive $ on a Toyota parts counter one, but is there a new CV axle that falls somewhere in the middle?

When I looked, no one had a new one available despite what their websites said. OEM is not an option at the outrageous price and my dealership even told me to go aftermarket when i asked their price. Everyone on TW gets a rebuilt from somewhere. Most just recommend places like autozone (I got mine there) which have a lifetime warranty. I think your Taurus experience was a fluke. I would rather spend $100 to fix it right than to risk it destroying the bearing and then having to replace it twice. My Dad always said if other mechanics that he worked with would do the job right the first time, their work wouldn't come back so often. I follow that logic in everything I do, and it always pays off.

Always busy. But such is life. I'll sell you the tools in Edmonton, if you want to save $20.

Hey, newbie here. Researching the growl lead me here AND to East Coast Gear. Just ordered a bushing and wanted to know if anyone has the puller available for use, rent or god forbid sale? New England area.

Any 2013 tacos out there, lifted, and growling from the worn needle bearing? I'm wondering if they addressed this with the 2012...
I'm assuming no, but worth asking.

My 2013 was growling. I replaced it with an ECGS bushing which fixed it the vibes. When I pulled the needle bearing out, it looked fine to me, so I think it is more of a designs flaw, that if left for a long time will wear on the bearing. There was a lot of up/down play in the CV before I changed the bearing. Afterwards it was much tighter.

I have a 2013 that I lifted about 3" in the front and 2" in the rear. I have not noticed any "growling" or vibrations. Does this only happen in 4WD or what conditions should I be looking for the symptoms specifically?
    Thanks,
    Ken

Would you be willing to loan them out? I'm still trying to figure out if this is something I can do in the driveway with limited tools or if I need to use my buddies shop.
