Yea on both occasions. I pm'd with just asking if they still had any, they replied asking for my address and that one would be sent out. nothing past that ever happened.

can't make it to the meet though. need to save my leave.

I want to buy a project car but not sure how my friends mom would feel if i brought home a 3rd car.
Anyone got any experience with hoarding and working on a car in a rental unit?

Did she say that you can't bring a car there? Out of respect I'd ask her.

Generally, most landlords don't want junkers in front of their properties or being worked on long term if at all. So the answer to your question is probably "not a good idea". Especially if you already have two vehicles ;)

So I took my truck in for a four hour wheel balancing yesterday. Why four hours you ask?

Because the guy (who has only been there five days) didn't know what he was doing and messed up over and over again. I even had to tell him that he was taking off the old weights wrong and to clean the wheel in order to get the weights to stick. And to use the wheel key rather than the standard tool they have. Oh and to make it even worse, he damaged my wheels both on the side that shows and behind as well.

Siu was not a happy girl. Even though I tried, I was being nice throughout the whole procedure. What set me off is when I saw him damage the wheel using a paint scraper and when I asked him WHY, he told me that's what he had to do in order to get the old weights off.

I pointed to the red plastic tool and told him I thought THAT was the tool he's supposed to use.

You know what he said to me?

"Oh this gets them off faster"

"ORLY? It's been 3.5 hours, it's not really helping much." Then he said to me "I'm getting shell shocked. Give me a break, okay?"

Oh hellno. That was it. The angry crazy Chinese woman came out of me. I even cussed.

Took them in to be estimated, it's going to cost $162 each wheel to have them repaired, plus 16 each to mount and balance plus 7 each to have TPMS installed.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
It's kind of a hit and miss when it comes to those stickers. I PM'd him and asked for 2. Never got a response but received one couple weeks later. My buddy did the same and never got a sticker. Maybe babytruck could mail you one if can't meet up and want one now. Maybe you should wait till you trade for a 4x4 because of your truck issues :p

They were the ones who sent mt to the wheel repair place. For one wheel to be repaired, balance, installed with TPMS it comes out to 185. I paid 182 for the wheel alone on a price match with Tire Rack. The place where the wheels were damaged said that it was too expensive to have repaired.

When I heard that I had to shove my own eyes back into my head I'm so friggen mad.

If you swap in the B18Cx you need to swap in everything emissions related that goes along with it. Everything from ECU, EVAP Canister, EGR, etc.

I'm assuming there are some shared parts which should be OK, but vacuum line routing may be different, etc.

Here's the text from the CA BAR:

An engine change is the installation of an engine in an exhaust emission-controlled vehicle that is different from the one originally installed in the vehicle. An engine change is required to receive a Referee inspection. The Referee will affix a BAR Referee Label on the vehicle after the vehicle passes a complete Smog Check Inspection.

Replacement of a vehicle's engine with the same engine size or an engine offered by the manufacturer for that year, make and model is considered an engine replacement and does not require a Referee inspection.

So if your B18 is different by Year, Make, Model you'll need to get it REF'd.

Year will probably be your biggest issue, I don't think you'll be buying a Japanese motor (which is automatically illegal), Make shouldn't be a problem since you're getting an American B18. Model is ok since they're all coming from integras, don't worry about LS/GS/GS-R/Type R since these are all "trims".

i <3 you, USDM motor sounds like the best option to avoid issues with emissions. The trim no mattering is what saved me from scrapping this project. Any idea of the difficulty of Ref or price?

Why is buying a Japanese motor illegal?

When you buy an engine from engine world, they import an engine from japan. (for tacomas)
