    Need some opinions:

Been thinking A LOT this week about which direction to go with my truck mod-wise. And just to be clear, this has nothing to do with the expenses or difficulty, or anything like that. Enough time allows me to save up for anything. I've been talking about SAS for months now, because I think it's really cool to have something unique that not many people have. I'd be stoked to have a 2nd gen SAS truck, but I haven't done enough rock crawling to convince myself it's more fun than blasting through the desert and jumps, and expo style stuff too.

So as of RIGHT NOW, I'm leaning more towards LT. My favorite kind of wheeling is in Ocotillo Wells, Lucerne, etc. The slow stuff is fun, but I'm always glad to be off the trail when I'm out at Cleghorn/Bear etc. It just stresses me out lol

My ideal way to go if I were to go LT is a TC 3.5" kit, King 8" coilovers with compression adjusters, MAYBE a secondary down the line. In the rear, just a low profile cage through the bed with King smooth body shocks with compression adjusters and a SUA kit with Deavers. King hydro bumps all around, and limit straps to keep my CV axles from blowing out.

Am I missing anything? I hate being so torn between both worlds :annoyed:

I would do LT if I were you. There's a lot more people with LT that can help you. As for your list, all you are forgetting is rear bedsides and cam tab gussets if you plan on sticking with bushing uppers, coil bucket gussets, ect. Also, I see you were thinking about getting SUA deavers. If you are talking about the defined kit, Id pass. Technically you cant even run 16s with it. (14 max). Look into the DMZ SUA kit. Prolly best SUA kit out there for our trucks. Id recommend getting bypasses for the rear. It seems like everyone I know that gets smooth bodies always upgrades to either double or triple bypasses. Since you plan on running 8s up front, id recommend sticking with 700lbs springs (eibach) but id recommend getting 18" springs because you want have to crank down your coils very much to get adequate preload. ALSO, you will need to add a slip yoke to the rear most section of your drive shaft. That way the suspension can cycle properly and the driveshaft wont pull the CB so much. It would also be a good idea to upgrade to a greasable McMaster Carr CB ( ). Lastly, when you buy straps, buy clevises for them so you can tighten them when they strech out.

    Great info.

Bedsides are my next mod for sure. I'm just trying to find a used set that's already been drilled and fitted.

TC cam tab gussets, coil bucket gussets, spindle gussets, and clevis straps will be added to the list.

I was not going to do the Defined kit, I was thinking more like having my fabricator build me one. He's done a few on Rangers and stuff. The DMZ kit would be my next choice.

Still haven't decided on heimed uppers or bushings.

Bypass rears would be cool, I just need to find somebody who is willing to go out and test them with me in Barstow. I've never done it before so I need somebody with experience and the tools for testing the valving.

Who makes a good slip yoke for the rear shaft? Or does everybody just order them from the nearest driveline shop?

As for the CB, better to do that, or go with a one piece with the slip yoke?

Now the gears are beginning to turn in my head :D

one piece DS will be fine if you do all flat stuff. two piece will be better if you intend to do everything since it will have better clearance. for me, my style and wheeling choices will be better suited to have a two piece DS for example

Calm down Persian. Wasn't the SAS for free or something? Or you were getting it done by Rebel? Sorry I don't know th details of the SAS itch. I only saw what was said in here. And probably not all of it.

Definitely not free...they would be doing the swap at the shop, and I'd get a break on the labor, but that's about it.

If it were free, I wouldn't be making a choice here...lol

Nice thing about hiemed uppers if you can do solid mounted lowers and do the alignment once and never have to adjust it again. Only downside is its a pain in the ass to align it that first time.

As far as the bypasses go, Id recommend hitting up Anthony250. He rebuilds shocks and can ride with you in the truck and tell you what type of valving (shim stacks) you need if you feel that the valving is off.

As for the driveshaft, there's no real reason to do a one piece. Just the cost of building a one piece custom shaft is around 800-1000. Like MonkeyProof said, Its kinda nice to have a two piece because you can get better clearance. As for the slip yoke, they are all the same. Just make sure you get a professional to do the work. If you need a guy, I can def point you in the right direction with that.
