Looking to add a auxiliary port (3.5 mm jack) so I can play my phones music instead of using the cassette adapter.. Is this possible with my stock head unit? (I think I have the stock) if so, what is the best way to go about this?
I think this is what I want.. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...iy-aux-input-2005-2008-factory-head-unit.html
But I don't need nor want it running into my console. Just so I place it in the cup holder

Not looking to spend a whole lot of cash
    >$25 or less???? Probably a lot to ask of..

As far as I know there is no way to add AUX to the first gen deck. The link you posted is for the 05+ and your 01 will have a different HU.

I just bit the bullet and upgraded yet pretty budget. Pyle bluetooth/3.5mmjack/SD/USB+remote. No more CD and sounds better thank the stock unit lighter and now have a pocket for stuff.

    also..
bluetooth does sound pretty nice.. No wires.. Hmm. I hadn't considered that before.
I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but could I just add a bluetooth functionality to my stock HU?

I don't know what he paid, but i figure about $100-150
    I don't think so.

    I'll find you a HU

Quick question, do you have the pocket below the factory radio? (i'm gonna guess no)

Here's a list of HU's that cost between $80 and $160 and have bluetooth

I have no idea what it's worth, a rough guess is 50-80 bucks.

Ok, that doesn't have a pocket.

Yeah a bit more than i'm wanting to spend. I don't want or need the fancy stuff. Pandora control, remote control or even USB
Just looking for 3.5mm jack (Aux port) and Bluetooth capability.
For those interested, looks like i'll be able to get $5-60 out of my stock.

I have a old pioneer in my old truck, nice and plain, has a CD slot, and you can add a AUX if you want.
I'll see if i can dig up the model number and price.

Ok, it's a pioneer DEH-P6400 and this plugs into the back to give you AUX capability

Just get one of the simple units on sale at crutchfield.com
You should get a little boost in sound quality and you can get one with an aux. the factory unit kinda sucks why do you want to keep it?
