Yea the button that says quote will quote the one post.
The one next to it if you click it it will turn red...that's if you want to quote more than one post. When you done clicking them all, then click the quote button.

Yeah, if I could choose a place to go it would be Tenessee or Va...

But alas, I doubt I could get the other half to leave Florida...

    Neither...lol...

We both have family down here, and she's pretty close with her parents. I don't want to feel like I'm taking her away from her family. I'm guessing that a move out of Palm Beach County is in more of a 5 year plan. The idea behind the condo would be to live there for a few years, then move out and rent the condo as an income producing property...

They're going for $1400-1500 all day long for rent, but PITI+HOA would only be about $950 with minimum down.

Funny that you guys mentioned Tennessee because I've been there 4 times & love it. A former co-worker of mine transferred up to Cleveland, Tennessee & he is very happy with his decision.

I'm fortunate that I live in an old part of Miami & it's very quiet as far as Miami goes. Only theft I experienced where I live was that some young punk decided to go trying car door handles until he found one open (my wife's SUV) & stole her prescription sun glasses & change from the center console.

I was born in New Jersey but moved to Homestead, Fl when I was 5. Homestead was nice but after Hurricane Andrew the demographics of the area changed & it wasn't the same. I also lived in Cutler Ridge (now called cutler Bay) & I had cars stolen from me, my mom's house broken into, & a gun pulled on me in an intersection (he thought I was someone else & actually told me this. I told him to F*&% off because I was so mad, & stupid).

Anyways, Except for my father who lives in Tarpon Springs EVERYONE else on my wifes side & mine live in South Florida. My mom & grandma depend on me for many things & I am also close with my wifes family. (similiar situation to Dan with the family).

Believe me, if it weren't for the family I would have moved either to
    Tarpon Springs, Florida,
    Boone, North Carolina,
    South East Tennessee,
    or
    North Georgia.

And I'm sure that there are other nice places out there. I think that these areas are also good as far as the seasons go. You can actually experience them & the winters are rarely harsh.

New York & New Jersey get extreme winters & in the summer it's hotter than down here.

FWIW, wife and I moved here to West Palm in 83, and have been in the same house now since 85. Family now has kept us here. 1983 was a much different West Palm Beach. There was a time when most of 441 was cow pastures and anything north or west of Royal Palm Beach was Orange Grooves. 441, Jog, and east / west roads were one lane in each direction.

And get this, there were places to ride dirt bikes and go off-road.

This may seem counter productive, but if you must stay close, move to Okeechobee.

Florida and Tenn are nice with no state income tax, and with Florida you can file homestead exemption. H.E. was a lot better years ago, homes were not as expensive and the H.E. was a very large value compared to the price of the home.

You are young and will figuire it out. Ask my daughter that is the same age as some of you guys...

I know my parents grew up here back in their day, and I actually grew up in the acerage. Even from the early/mid 90's the entire place has changed. I remembered corner stores and having to "drive into town" with mom. Southern Blvd was more like the 441 extension...no overpasses and all that.

Really, I just want a nice piece of property. Maybe 5-10 acres...okay house...somewhere I can get away from the noise and craziness of So. Fla. Speaking with the better half, there's actually 10-15 acre plots out in Deer Run near lion country safari. That would be a nice little place to get something if I had the cash...

And then not too far from everything else.

I want a big piece of land and make a nice offroad section.

I say I would do that too, but I think I'd use an ATV rather than my truck...unless I had enough land to get a truck for the property...now that would be awesome...
