Front end grinding vibration

Hope someone could help me pin point this issue. The past couple of day I have noticed while turning left or right from a stop I can feel an intermittent vibration that feels like metal to metal grinding. It feels like its on the driver side only. Once I straightened up it goes away. Now today going down the road at about 50mph I can feel a light vibration throught the floor and it still feels like it coming from the same location. Tried the search feature on here but didnt really find anything close to what I am feeling. I was thinking that its either a wheel bearing or cv joint. The truck only has 7500 miles on it.
any suggestions would be great.

going to make an appt to have it looked as soon as possible.

I will take off from the stop and will be rolling and then will feel the grinding as im turning I will feel it two or three times during the turn and then it stops.

 

Terry,forgive the stupid question but...is the truck in 4wd?...just a thought.

its not in 4x4. thats a ligitamate question. Looking down in that area I dont see anything that is missing, broken, bent. etc.

 

if I dont get off road and do any four wheeling then I do at least put it in four wheel time to time to keep everything exercised down there.

 

Glad you see I wasn't trying to be a wiseass.....My thought was that it inadvertantly got switched into 4 and was reacting on dry pavement...Good luck with a fix,Toyota will make it right.

yea i feel like mine is coming from the rear. Is it a quick fix for the dealer?

 

I am experiencing the same problem, it seems for now that it is worse when you accel through a corner, left hand turns are worse than right but it is present for both. It gives an intermittent 1,2,3 type vibe that is worse under accelleration than just coasting through a turn, it is not bad now but is also getting worse so I would like to get it fixed. I have just only begun to notice it at higher speeds although it is subtle.

MINE DOES IT TOO FROM 25MPH AND UP, PLUS I HEAR KNOCKING SOUND WHEN GOING THRU BUMPS AND MAKING A RIGHT AND LEFT TURN. THE GRINDING SOUND DOES NOT GO AWAY EVEN AT 4HI. IT STARTED AFTER LIFTING WITH 4" RCD LIFT.

 

I would love to know if anyone has pinpointed this problem and fixed it. Mine also makes a griding noise, you can feel it more than hear it. Mine does it mostly on inclines turning left or sometimes right. More so when turning left. I have checked the diff fluids, checked the heat shields to make sure they are not rubbing, checked brake pads. Seems to be coming from the front left.

 

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. Have a tire place check it out and test drive it. I had no play in the wheel but a vibe on driver front. I just installed a new one and drives like a dream. Some people have a prob with the front diff

 

I had the exact same issue. From a stop, grinding sensation when turning left, sometimes turning right. More promiment on incline turns. Swore it was coming from front end. I could feel it in the steering. Took it to a good auto shop and they also thought it was coming from font end, possibly bearings or tranfer case not disengaging all the way. Took it to a better auto shop for 2nd opinion. I described it to him just like i did above.
Without hesitation he crawled underneath the rear end, filled my rear diff which was 1/2 qt low, added LS additive and bingo, problem solved. It was LS chatter. Just goes to show how vibrations in the rear can be felt in the front end! It may not be true for everyone, but if you are experiencing the same grinding/vibrations please check your rear diff levels and additive. I felt stupid afterwords when i found out it was something so simple, but im glad its fixed.
