Is there a difference in the coils from v6 to 4cyl?
and one spring is marked with purple paint, one with white, i'm assuming it's side specific, anyone know which side?

No, the only different coils are TRD vs. Sr5/bone stock. And I think white is right. I don't know it's been so long since I had my stock coils. Are you swapping stock coils from another taco?

    Ok, thanks.
yeah, i got some billies with stock coils from a local member and his truck was a Regular cab 4x4, with the 4cyl.
Since he has no TRD package i assume that those would be the better coils to preload (to 1'' of lift).

Yeah the TRD's are mushy. They're progressive and will compress with ease meaning you'll probably kill them by preloading very soon.

    That's what i thought.
My cousin has a 04 pre runner with the 2.7(extra cab), so next time i'm at his house i'm gonna measure his coil diameter and count how many coils he has vs my truck.
But i think i'm gonna just keep the coils that are on there, and see if he would by my coils after i get them off.

Yes, most definitely. Over the production years Toyota made quite a few different springs for the 1st gen. Somewhere around 10 or more. Some of the original applications are now more than likely superseded to later apps.
Back in the day it was a popular and cheap way to get some lift. A 4cyl reg cab could see as much as 1.5" increase in ride height from say, coils from a v6 extra cab. There is a list of the part numbers and applications "somewhere" on TTORA.
Sorry, I have long forgotten the color codes

Ok, i measured my coils and the coils that are on the shocks i got,
    coil count: both have 9
diameter of the coil: v6 auto trans: 17.33 MM 2.7 manual: roughly 15.6mm.

and i can definitely tell that my coils are progressive and the sr5 coils are linear.
