No its a T4 Exhaust mount

Edit: it LOOKS..like it might be a T3/T4..notice how it has two sets of holes for a turbo to bolt too. Doesn't really say tho..Think its a typo that it says T4/T4. Should be T3/T4

yea thats what im saying theres 8-holes which wold make virtually any turbo work...well not any but having t3/t4 holes would open the door to lots of turbos.

Texas_Ace over at CustomTacos could help with this. Here is a helpful post I bookmarked. The thread is by a guy who is building a turbo 5vz to compete in King of the Hammers.

Turbo with supporting mods and tranny to hold power.
Just turbo would be better than supercharger or both. I do not know how good the cx racing kit is but i had 2-3x the cost in my custom kit. Never ran both turbo and sc at same time but I know the sc robs a ton of power from the crank to turn it and heats the discharge air like crazy with efficiency in the 30-40% range. With custom front mount turbo setup, I ran a to4e 60 trim on my 5vz without an intercooler and ran water/meth for higher boost levels. This turbo ran in the 75-80% efficiency range. Eventually ran with intercooler as well and went to larger turbo as well. The to4e 60 trim had a .58 a/r t4 turbine side. Positive boost was made around 1700rpm and max boost around 2500 rpm but hard to tell exactly as rpm climb so fast. This had a ton of low end power like the sc and more top end than sc. When larger turbo(gt35) was used it had more lag but being on an auto, once it down shifted not much lag anyway. Fwiw the turbo without water/meth or intercooler on lower boost made more power than trd sc with a custom made 1.8" sc pulley and water/meth due to turbo not robbing the power the sc did and the huge efficiency difference the turbo had over the sc even with the water/meth. Best time with turbo setup was 7.77 sec in 1/8 mile.....sc not close to this.....

^^ Hense in my lazyness of keeping the S/C on, I will find a way to twin-charge, not compound charge. S/C only robs power by compressing when the turbo is not spooling. In bypass mode and the T/C has the "load", the S/C is only a few hp of drag.

Way over kill, not really necessary, not trying to get every possible millisecond off of a run, just not wanting to take the S/C off... and hell like I said, cause I can LOL.

Nice. Can you also run a list and prices of extra necessities needed to properly tune the turbo?

    Thanks Blackdawg.

I'll snap more pics later. The welds look great, and I like that they bothered to grind down the slag inside the manifold and reinforce the turbo mounting point.

I wish I knew. Loooots of things going on-- in fact I just came back from the Vet ER for my 13 year old dog having old dog issues. Its going to kill my wife seeing her deteriorate... it'll mess me up too.

I've got a 9-5 that pays the real bills, then TS on the side, a new house, honey-do lists etc. Plus what will slow things down is trying to find a better intercooler route (more off-road friendly), stealthy up the kit the way I like, the custom work to merge the kit's downpipe to OE exhaust, etc.

I still extend the invention for any SoCal'ers to come bye and check it out. Maybe throw a beer and pizza install party haha.

Plug and Play (cam and crank filters calibrated) AEM FIC already up and running for the TRD blower. 550cc drop-in PNP high imp modern Denso (ie: modern OBDII atomization and latency value quality) and a DW200 255LPH fuel pump (E85 friendly).

With this kit, its as easy as a boost controller to rack up the boost, so IMO fuel mods should be done with head-room. I have E85 down the street, so I want at a minimal 550cc of injector flow, 255LPH of fuel pump, if not more.

With the TRD charger, supra 330cc seems like enough for pump gas, 420cc to have head room and to be able to run E85, and a 190lph pump was plenty. But with the dense efficient boost of turbo, plus the addition of dirt cheap boost controllers, the fuel mods need to evolve past what TRD blower guys have run.

If one builds the motor to handle a lot more, I can setup MS3Pros to be PNP, and run DW300 fuel pumps with larger injectors, and start getting to where fuel lines, returns, rails, FPRs etc need to be upgraded. But thats not my cup of tea, I want a good ~350hp/tq, transgo shift kit etc.

You have any internal work (ie forged crank and pistons)?

Im cautious about getting this kit as I don't think the stock engine can handle the turbo's full potential. Im not ready to tear down the engine yet and forged parts are a bit out of my price range.

nah man. We have stout internals. of course probably not the FULL potential of the turbo..but that would probably be over 500hp..

with just 10psi from the turbo that comes with it you'd be around 350-425rwhp id bet. PLENTY haha

Yep..... Do not have a printout though..... It made 420+whp and 500+wtq at 16psi on 93 octane pump. Time mentioned was ran in 4wd spinning on street tires no locker ect. Stock truck made 140whp and 170wtq and ran high 10's in the 1/8 mile...

Internals are pretty strong in the 5vz. Just keep timing in check and afr in the 11-12:1 range. Also be sure you have a way to tune open and closed loop for best results. Mine would not go open loop until 3.5-4k rpm so if I could only tune open loop it only made good power from this point to 5700 rpm limiter. Tune closed loop from idle to 3.5-4k rpm really helps the power curves waking things up a bit including the turbo response. Plus your motor will not like running 14.7:1 afr in closed loop with boost. You will have to pull timing in this area for it to live robbing power at the same time.
