How do you lube control arm bushings???

I went off roading in my 2011 TRD sport 4x4 four door Tacoma and went through a few mud puddles. my driver side upper control arm is now squeaking with every little bump and turn of the wheel. the bushings arent bad yet by looking at them so I was wondering if there was a way to lubricate the bushings to get the squeak to go away instead of replacing the bushings all together? Help Please!!!

few options:

1-white silicone grease


2- a shit ton of wd-40 (temporary)

3- total chaos ucs ball joint lubricant (reccomended)

4- piss on em (cheapest and most refreshing)

 

Factory UCA's are not servicable (don't have grease zerks). Pressure washer, some WD-40, THEN some teflon grease in an aerosol can (Tri-Flow) worked best for me.

 

I have pressure washed all, well most of the mud away and it really didnt start to get bad untill today. i understand that they arent servicable. so just that i understand you after i pressure wash the suspension let it dry for a couple hours then just use an aerosol can of WD-40 directly onto the control where the bushings are then right after spray the bushings with tri flow teflon grease? And is this a fix that lasts for a while or only a couple months? thanks for all the replies.

 

First, make sure it's the bushing and not something else. Have someone bounce the truck or crank the wheel while you grip each joint/bushing, you should be able to feel it. Next, if it is an arm bushing make sure the bolt is still nice & tight. Lastly, penetrating oil may soften and damage the rubber and will make dust/dirt stick to it. I use silicone spray lube and it generally works a very long time and there's little or no mess. Try to get it in there as much as possible and bounce the truck around. You may even jack it up to get different angles on it, but it usually doesn't take much to stop the squeak.

 

upon further investigation i have found that i need to replace one of my UCA bushings. i have already bought the replacement bushings. they are pre assembled and i was wondering if i need to lube them prior to install? i would think so but im not sure, that is why i am asking. also for the good bushings when i spray them with the silcone lube how long does it take for the squeaking to go away? thanks again for the help

 

The lube should be close to instant. If at first squirt it doesn't stop, spray and bounce a little more. If one bushing is worn out, the rest probably are as well. I'm pretty sure those are pressed in and will likely require removing the arm and going to a machine shop so at least do both on that arm in that's the case. There are hand operated C-presses that can sometimes do them on the car; hit & miss. The other option is urethane bushings that are generally installed by hand without a press. New don't need lube if they're stock rubber style.

 

I have done as mentioned above for the lubrication of the good bushings. my truck only has 45000 miles on it. that seems a little early for all of the UCA bushings to go bad. it does have 5100 coilovers on it adjusted to 3in lift with stock control arms? could sand in the bushings cause noise and if so will the lube and time work the sand out?

 

I have also just realized that i actually have Light Racing UCA's instead of stock ones. will the stock part number UCA bushings still fit into the light racing UCA? i am having a bunch of little stressors with the truck right now. thanks for the help again.

 

No clue what they use, probably urethane, but I'd check with them.
