I wonder how legit that payment really is though for 100 bucks. plus I am curious to see what the 2014's are going to look like and you must understand. I travel for a living and am only home 1 week out of the month. I roughly put around 6k a year on the cars I own and thats why I feel owning is unnecessary. I can get a new one every 3 years (and most of the time I want something different in 2 years anyways) so thats why I lease.. But I will ask my agent how much more it would cost to purchase.

That just doesn't seem like a good deal at all to me. Plus $2000 down? I couldn't keep it under the 12k miles a year. Generally leases are only good for someone that can keep it under the miles allotted and like to change vehicles every 3 years or so.

*EDIT* I see you replied while I was posting. It might work out for you then.

The tacoma is a truck you buy, not lease. This is the best resale midsize truck you can buy

It would cost you less to own the truck for the three years and sell it than to put $2k down and the monthly payment for three years ($15k). The resell is so good on the Tacoma that it doesn't make sense to lease.

Just spoke to my agent, rates are not that great. 2.5% with 2k down based off $28,329.52 would make my payments roughly 500 a month. Not worth it for me to have a truck sitting 3 weeks out of the month and only getting used 1 week out of that month. I realize I am a different contender for this truck but the only thing I would be doing with it is hauling stuff away from my house and I go through remodeling it and towing my 55 around to car shows here and there and thats maybe 3 times a year. this thing wont be seeing any rock crawls or dirt trails.. thats what my mountain bikes are for.. so leasing is still a better option for me plus if this all turns out well, then in 3 years I can trade it back in and consider purchasing a gen 3 if and when they release them...

You are possibly right however, my issue is having a 500 a month payment for a car I seldom use, thats why I look at leasing because it enables me to have the same vehicle with a smaller payment. I get what you are saying (why throw 2k away on something you're renting) It makes sense but 2k spread over 36 months is still cheaper than purchasing..

    I just leased a 2013 taco sr5 4x4 DCSB. sticker was 30k, I put 1k down, and my payment was 320 a month. 12k miles for 3 years.

Did that have the TRD sport package on it? Although the price is the about the same. What did they settle on sticker price or did you settle for 30k? ALso where are you located at? Also was that payment including tax?

wtf why would you lease one of the most reliable mid size trucks available in the nation...

if you are going to lease a small truck, get a ranger...

if you lease a piece of shit ranger, they own it and will fix anything major...

Clearly you didn't read the entire post. I dont drive enough let alone use the vehicle enough to justify purchasing especially when I will want something new again in the 3 years.. Also I don't know if you've been around but you they stopped making the ford ranger so how on earth would I lease one new? I am just curious.

If you only are going to need the truck 1 week a month, why lease one. Seems like a waste of money... Rent one from Hertz, Avis, or Enterprise. You would be better off. Then you can rent one for your needs. You would save money... And not paying for the mileage you won't use. (12,000 a year and only drive 6,000)

WTF is a troll? I posted legitimate leasing offer and asked if that was a good deal, now I am being told by a bunch of people who don't know my situation other than to tell me that I should OWN something. I don't tell you guys to sit down to pee or stand. I asked a simple question. Good deal or not.. I dont need to buy a truck I will want a new car in 3 year and its as simple as that. I though this board was for help other tacoma owners and what not, so far it seems like a group of internet tough guys waiting to bounce on the first unacknowledged person to inquire about getting behind the wheel of one of these trucks.

There's a reason why they call leasing, "fleecing." Horrendous financial decision, IMO. Especially with a Tacoma. Regardless of reasons for it. My truck has only depreciated $2,000 in 4 years, and thats trade in value. I could easily get what I paid for it if I sold it myself, but I did get a great deal when it was new (thank you accelerator problems). To each their own. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Edit: I think most people here who are telling you that leasing is a bad idea ARE giving you advice on what you asked about......whether the numbers you had were a good deal.
