There are 2 c clips/snap rings on te shaft. Pound the tulip down and take off the one at the end, then pound it tho other way and remove the 2nd one. Then you can put it in a vice (not clamped down on the splines, and pound out the shaft from the triple ball joint thing Ben had to call it.

It's incredible how strong those are! I oy thought there was one at first, so after getting the one out we put it in a 12 ton press to try to separate it and it bent the hand operated press before it moved the shaft. Then once we it the other snap ring off it took 2 blows to the concrete and the joint almost fell off the shaft

That fucking c clip was a bitch and a half everytime I got it partly out of its groove it fucking fell back in. I just finally got it off and the new boot is on! Now I have a spare cv!!

 

Have you been able to keep dry?

 

right on. my problem was getting the c clip to stay on when it went all back together, its like both of them expanded getting them around the shaft, so everytime we pounded the tulip down it pushed the c clip out of its groove. but eventually we convinced it to work.
