    Well went crawling around under my truck again. Tie rods have no play, no noticeable play in the steering rack, although the u joint does seem rusty.

    Bad news is I found this....

    Passenger side motor mount...

    Good thing I go to school with lots of welders!

    Not sure how common that is but you are the first 05+ I have seen do that and not be jumping in the dessert.

    My truck had it under the previous owner. You might want to reconsider letting your buddies weld it back up.

    The early 05s were the worst. In mid 07 they fixed the issue by welding a steel plate in between that area
