i already answered this but, there's now a very good possibility our ford is getting a 5.9 motor.

anybody have experience with dropping a 5.9 cummins in a 05 f-250?

 

Yep - they call that hood up the "6 liter salute." And God they're so expensive to work on...

 

There is a whole website dedicated to just this swap - it's been done a bunch. I think you might be able to have your own gold plated space shuttle for about the same price.

7.3's are great and motors are good up till 700hp, then you have to replace the rods. 6.0's are great once they've been bullet proofed. 6.4's and 6.7's are really fast but they cost so much to do anything to them cause of all the EPA shit. I know 6.0's need a new tranny at 500-600hp but everything else should be fine if its got a bullet proofed engine.

 

haha naw its cool. but for real ....... the 6.0 is a piece of crap. The 6.7 and 7.3 are beast mode motors. You don't have to "bullet proof" these motors cause they aren't crap from the factory. I would never put a dodge motor in a ford truck when I could put a ford motor in a ford truck, specifically a 6.7 or 7.3

 

so the 6.0 is a POS unless you spend a few grand on it? i don’t want a engine i have to spend a few grand on for it to be “bullet proof”

I would never have a ford truck. buddys dad had a ’10 f150 and it had all kinds of fucking problems. From engine, to part of the dash falling apart going down the road and hitting a bump. also the head lights are dim as fucking shit. the high beams are about like the stock low beams. I have seen the head light problem on the f250 as well.

 

All of our company trucks are ford and we haven't had any problems out of the new models

 

Zach I agree about the "bullet proof" motor thing. That's retarded. Thats like if Toyota changed their reputation from "building excellent motors" to "building really shitty motors that can be built into excellent motors". Makes no fuckin sense

And I'd say, at least in Memphis, that at least 80% of all company trucks on the road are Ford's. Gas or diesel.

 

I'll just throw this out there. We've got 2 company trucks that are fords. A F250 and 350. Both of which have needed some serious work haha and neither have over 50k miles.

And this is its new (to us ) cab that we're almost done putting back together. And yes it says 550

 

we're figuring 15-17k for the swap, about the same price as buying a newer dodge, and we get to keep out truck (which we all love).

the 7.3's were awesome, and i've been hearing good things about the 6.7's, but the 6.0's and 6.4's were junk from what i've read.

 

Thanks for all the info over the last year. I traded the Taco in today on a Tundra. Couldn't pass up the $4k in rebates and the awesome deal they gave me. Ended up paying about the same as I did for the Taco. Have fun next month at the meet. I am already missing the Taco.

Anyways no phone for me till friday. iphone 4 that i have had like 2.5 years crapped out sat and went and had them look at it today. it’s done for no fixing it they said. so going to wait till friday when the 5s comes out and go get it.

Got the 13 model. SR5 with the 5.7L Crew Max. Has all the room I need for my three boys. Plus the can grow. I told them they couldn't grow because they wouldn't all fit in the taco. Haha
