Do you happen to have an OBDII reader by any chance to check for codes?

Also did you do anything to the truck a little before it came on or hit something or anything?

As long as no one has cleared the codes or disconnected the battery, the code is still there. An OBD2 reader will let you see the actual code. Some codes will set a check engine light after two consecutive drive cycles, then turn the light off if the trouble condition is not seen again for 3 consecutive drive cycles.

When this happened to my truck, it was a P0420 code, passenger side pre-catalytic convertor inefficiency. Eventually the Cat got replaced and the light stayed off. Luckily there was still some warranty left on the Catalytic convertors.

Good luck. Gotta find out what code is in there. Code readers start at around $50 at Autozone.
